You are chosen for jury duty if you are registered to vote. The rest I don't know.

Been called to jury duty maybe 4-5 times, but have not gone any further than the "picking" stage. ....... I don't know..... I think maybe I'm too oppinionated for jury duty. *shrugs shoulders* :smt102 In my younger days, I was a bit of an activist - that may have had a factor in it.

It is not JUST register to vote...it is now ALSO DMV drivers license...at least in CA it is...

See I never used to vote...but still they would call me...so I learned it was Drivers License...now I vote and I get called every year to Jury Duty.

Well, since my job pays me while I'm at jury duty then why not go??? It's always better than sitting at work.

Although, I now work for the DA's office that might get me kicked off a few cases. :(

I loved the last selection I was on...the female judge was so black and white...she says "I know none of you want to be here - heck I don't want to be here - but if you can't come up with a better excuse than mine - you can't get dismissed..."

I wanted to stay on the jury and see what other tid-bits she was going to throw out...as it was I won a seat and it was a GREAT trial - the prosecuting attorney was totally wet behind the ears - but is was an open and closed case of the cops tracking and nabbing a drug dealer...

It may have taken us an hour to go over things... but that included lunch.

Jury duty - you learn a lot about the legal system - sitting on a bench with "peers"

Or ID. I don't have a license, but do have an ID. And have gotten those lovely notices in the mail before.
And also had a very nice lady set it up so I could call in daily instead. So I didn't have to sit locked in a room all day with people, and all the things they wear that I'm allergic to!

You know I have a theory!
That the women who wear all that perfume, or a ton of scented stuff are hunting!
I mean while it may be lovely, must you marinade???
They have enough of that stuff on to take out a rhino at 50 paces, how does the poor hapless male stand a chance of running away before succumbing, and falling to the floor oxygen deprived from the purple cloud of death floating around those gals.
I mean, have you heard some of the names of those scents.
My grandma use to wear one called Poison! See, it admits to being death in a bottle. ;)
Well at least to me anyways.
sorry, its late, I ramble, ehehehhe *flits off to get some sleep*

Yes - a DMV ID works as well - anything in their system is prime target for Jury Summons.

ARGGH - why am I cursed

Well, in the end, I didn't get called and was given a reprive for 12 months. Yay!

FYI: I was talking to someone in the Jury Assembly Room who I guess has done this sort of thing before. Gary is right. It is both the DMV and Voter Registration. But what I found interesting that being on both lists apparently doubles your chance of getting called.

Not to discourage anyone from registering to vote but now you have been warned. :D

So are you agreeing with me that I'm rambling? Or my argument about women on the hunt?

That really sucks. It's like being punished. It should be one or the other.

And if you get called every year like Gary, then that is just ridiculous. That's too much civic duty to ask of someone.
