I think Wade's asking if the power is fixed at time of crafting, or you can specify the power anew each run from the menu of powers.


Ah...thanks. Since it will be written on the actual token, it will be fixed at time of crafting.


Does this mean that Trent will have to transmute like 20 of these to get one with every possible combination? ;)

I understand the motivation behind being able to customize the token, but I'm afraid of seeing a numerical value placed on it. I'm assuming we'll continue to see the development of Mark tokens after 2026 and this will be a measuring stick for all future development in this slot leading to a glass ceiling in a slot with 5 usable tokens next year.

Would it be possible to consider additional powers beyond damage or stat modifiers? Perhaps some options similar to a slightly suped up Figurine of Power? Thematically I'd be thinking that these special marks may be activated for a small effect in the dungeon.

What if the Mark of Enlightenment granted a power from a list that was more than just damage?

  • Negate Critical & Sneak Attack Immunities on your attacks

  • Re roll a failed save once, take the second roll

  • Quick Strike Bonus

  • Heal 10 points on any slide of a "20"

    I like the idea of having the Mark give you the ability to run a unique sub class. That would be cool. And then you wouldn't have to stat lock the Token. Maybe a combo of both, a power on the Token and a sub class. The sub class could be tweaked as the years go by so the Mark is not "obsoleted" by future Marks.

    I recall the patch was going to be relic level, so the mark should be UR level power to keep it in sync. Depending on the power and which slot is comparable you should keep it the same (neck, head, ring, hands, wrist, belt) or reduce the power (bead, ioun stone, charm). But in no case should it replicate an unslotted power.

    The challenge with a fixed power is that, over time, it will be so diluted that it won't be cool or interesting.

    A solution to that would be have the token say the following:
    Crafted By: Fredbot
    Power: <insert category here>
    The categories are just descriptive and can change year to year or whenever it makes sense:
    Defensive Expert: May ignore retribution damage
    Spell master: May free action cast 1 spell/run
    Melee Titan: Attacks ignore crit immunity
    Sharp-eyed: Attacks ignore miss chances from incorporeal
    Spiky: Increase retribution damage by 50%

    This solves for long-term

    You are boxed into being fixed due to the mythic tokens. The mythic tokens are fixed so tokens at lower power levels and transmute have a hard cap to not exceed.

    It'd be nice if the Mark of Enlightenment offered something unique beyond just a stat boost. Something like permanent access to a subclass would be pretty amazing.

    Having a selection of categories for the benefit would make printing simpler and would allow time to present the mechanics to the coders well in advance. I posted some suggestions on this earlier. That would allow flexibility on powers and make the code easier by reducing the number of options.
