I'm not sure there's really much to be gained from comparing these given that Hardcore and Nightmare are vastly different scenarios.

Hardcore and Nightmare do not offer exclusive rewards only available on those difficulties, so it's not much of an issue if people play at a different difficulty instead.

But they do - they offer more XP, and they offer a different play experience (on nightmare especially puzzles and puzzle solutions can have been more precise and exacting, at least historically), and monster interactions sometimes differ beyond just better stats (e.g. they pick up retaliatory effects, or damage immunities, etc.)

Absolutely, I am 100% behind Mythic offering a different play experience with more difficult monsters/puzzles offering new mechanics - it should do that since the players have gone to lots of effort to be able to play it. The tangible rewards are the only part I'm questioning. I'm less sure about XP since it depends on how it's implemented... the only distinction at the moment is normal XP vs non-normal XP, so it's really not difficult to get max XP for a run. That would change with a separate system for Mythic XP which is why I think the rewards for it should be more aimed at cool things than game-changing things.
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

Exactly my point, you say hardcore and nightmare can’t be compared to mythic…but you have to play on hardcore to get max XP right now??? So I think comparing to pugging at lower levels is the same exact thing. If you play on normal you miss XP…which is all Jeff is proposing for mythic.

Hardcore and Nightmare do not offer exclusive rewards only available on those difficulties, so it's not much of an issue if people play at a different difficulty instead. Moreover, the player base for those difficulties is immensely higher than Mythic so there is little difficulty in finding other players to arrange runs.

While a Mythic PUG is unlikely, someone who crafts a Safehold I not having access to a full group of 10 Mythic players doesn't seem like an unreasonable scenario.

I expect there to be several disappointed players when Mythic runs start. The cost for gaining access to Mythic was driven up by folks in the forum. So when folks are left hanging they know where to look at whom cause their issue.
