TOPIC: Stacking Relic + Legendary Versions with Followers

Before Safehold III Followers are released, we should probably determine if these things stack.

Rules as written today, they do stack. However the precedent of the Havoc Ring and Whisper beads make me wonder if their ability to stack is simply because it was never considered before.

It will be much better to settle this now, before people get too invested in collecting followers and tokens that may in the future be ruled to not stack.

Category 1: Legendary items with a Relic that are in formerly single slots:
--> Gregor's Gladiator Gloves and the relic version with Follower Hedgekin
--> Pern's Redoubt Helm and the relic version with Follower Sprite
--> Viv's Boots of Protection and the relic version with Follower Stomper

Category 2: Transmuted items with UR predecessors that are in formerly single slots:
--> Boots of the Four Winds and its URs with Follower Stompy
--> Kilt of Dungeonbane and its URs with Follower Toadkin
--> Shirt of the Arcanum and its URs with Follower Brawling
--> To be named future Shin slot transmute and its URs with Follower Toadkin

Already discussed. They stack for now, but TPTB reserve the right to change their mind.

While TD always has carte Blanche to regulate “game breaking combos” I think they should sit down and think deep thoughts about these tokens BEFORE anyone one has them.

The banhammer coming for the relic +6 damage gloves is a very predictable outcome.

While TD always has carte Blanche to regulate “game breaking combos” I think they should sit down and think deep thoughts about these tokens BEFORE anyone one has them.

The banhammer coming for the relic +6 damage gloves is a very predictable outcome.

I would say that isn’t as likely as the ban hammer coming from a different angle. If the relic gloves don’t stack, just replace them with gauntlets of linked fury or gloves of greater archery for very minimal impact.

I understand the concern about stacking legendary and relic tokens in slots that were previously limited to one token. FWIW, though, I don't plan to use Followers just to load up on stats. Not sure how many Followers I'll be able to make (or how soon), but I've been thinking about them as "ways to add back features I had to drop due to slot limitations." For example, if a run features a lot of Retribution damage, Follower Brawling would let me equip Shirt of Shielding and my Arcanum Shirt. Follower Stomper would let me equip Boots of the Marauder in addition to BoFW, and get Free Movement back (lost Free Movement when I gave up Lucky Traveler for Boaz's).

Of course, I might be an outlier. And one could think of the option to wear two of something as adding stats, since if I didn't have the Brawling option, I might have to drop Arcanum Shirt and its stats for the Shirt of Shielding.

Agreed I would like to know if I was going to acquire both a legendary and a relic if it is going to work. Relics have been up and down in value so I definitely don’t want one if I can’t use it.

Banning it after the fact is going to make folks grumpy.

Agreed I would like to know if I was going to acquire both a legendary and a relic if it is going to work. Relics have been up and down in value so I definitely don’t want one if I can’t use it.

+1 I don’t run the gloves as a Paladin, but barb, and other 2H weapon users, would be nice: boosts a +8 to + 12 ( with 2025 bead ) it’s a nice + 16 to outright dmg.
