TOPIC: Thanks for a GREAT 20th Anniversary!

Thanks for a GREAT 20th Anniversary! 8 months 2 weeks ago #1

To TD Crew, Volunteers and Players --

The four 53 ft trailers were unloaded this morning, and the TD Crew is taking a much needed break until next week. I'm hopping on here to pronounce my utter joy and appreciation for all the fun that was had at Gen Con this past week.

Thank you all for helping me present so much fun to so many attendees at Gen Con. I had a blast, and by many accounts so did many of you. I am happy the 4-room "con-quest" idea (BBT) seemed to resonate with folks. I am thrilled to finally have had the chance to let everyone experience walking through the green fog room, and it was fun to hear all the Darkhold Keep generated screams throughout the weekend. I'd also like to give a shout out to the folks who attended my seminar. The video of the proceedings should be posted online in the coming weeks.

Like I said in the seminar, I am luckiest gamer on the planet (okay, maybe "second luckiest" next to Peter). To have the support of such a wonderful group of staff, volunteers and players is an amazing gift of which I am eternal thankful.

Jeff, thanks for leading such an outstanding team to provide a wonderful experience for all of us! We only did Tower of Terror, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The green mist room was definitely the highlight, I hope that technology can be incorporated into an entire room at some point.

Has it been 20 years already? Itfeels like it was 19 years just a year ago.

Enjoyed playing ToT twice to try the options. Looking forward to the celebration for 21.

It was great to be involved. I look forward to next GC. And someday I will get myself to GameHole.

This was quite the lovely event indeed, and all three events were wonderfully made/executed. Loved the effects (and hearing players gush about the green fog throughout the con)! I'm very excited to see what all you guys have planned for the future.

It's been a wonderful 20 years, and have been happy to be able to help out for just over half that! Thanks for making such a great game, Jeff.

Tomb of Terror and Darkhold keep have been two of my most favorite adventures since I started playing, and the sealed pack experience of Con Quest was also delightful. I also saw a lot of people get excited over their treasure pulls!

I have been unreasonably excited for sticking my hand in a grinning devil mouth for way too long, and I finally got to live the dream :D

Tomb of Terror was top-notch! Besides the amazing green fog effect, I loved seeing the Door of Doors in person, the torch puzzle was both logically nifty and visually gorgeous (super nice touch that when you lit the wrong torch it immediately "blew out"), the eyeball combat was cool and different, obelisk building required both dex and int, Batterak and his hoard looked amazing, and the NPCs absolutely killed it (across the board, but special shout-outs to the abandoned adventurer in ToT room 2, the pain demon in ToT room 5, the ghost in Darkhold Keep room 2, and of course Lady Darkhold herself, who very nearly corrupted our cleric on a newbie run).

My favorite moment of all was during final run of ToT room 7, Kermit shouts "ALL IN" so we put all our pucks on the same path space, and proceed to roll that icon. Next round the surviving members go all in again on the same space, AND ROLL IT AGAIN!

Second favorite moment was on an earlier run when the pain demon followed us into room 6 to ask if a room 5 puck had accidentally been brought there by mistake. The answer turned out to be yes, but only because it was magnetically stuck to the pain demon's costume!

Thanks to everyone for making this gencon an amazingly fun (and much needed) break from real life. I count myself blessed to have found a community as warm and welcoming as TD. We really do have something special here :)

That was one of MY favorite moments too  Batterak appreciates your sacrifice!

I'm curious, what happened when all your party members were on the same icon and it was rolled? I'd have guessed everyone would be dead, but I guess that wasn't the case. Was there a limit on how many people would be sucked into the void each round?

This did happen. The "all or nothing" happened on the last run of the con. The group went all in and only the Skull of Cavadar saved them. (Everyone had one)
The next roll was an "all in" and it was hit again. 4 were sucked in.
The next round he was defeated.
