TOPIC: GenCon ticket refund issue.

I ran into a problem with the GENCON ticketing system. (This is NOT a complaint about TD, TD handled this issue very much to my satisfaction.) I attempted to return a ticket for a run for a refund. Neither the GENCON app nor the GENCON website would not allow me to return the ticket because I was not the original purchaser. I am sure many other people had the same issue.

The sad part of this issue is TD lost revenue and players who wanted more runs couldn't get ticket due to GENCON software. TD does not get any of the money from tickets that are purchased but not used. So we had runs with less than 10 players that were "sold out". I know the TD team is very busy for the next couple of weeks but I hope this note will be a reminder to ask GENCON to change their app to allow the holder of the ticket to return it for credit.

One of the runs I was in, 2 folks didn’t show so a buddy got to join. He paid, but I don’t know the details of v what he did. But he was glad to join us. It was his kids’ first time; he hadn’t played in probably 10+ years.

Although I love attending GenCon, I continue to dislike the GenCon organization more and more each year.

Gen Con’s ticketing system doesn’t work well for TD. I don’t know if there is anything that can be done about it, though.

While I am not a fan of GenCon the entity, their ticketing system works fairly typically to most retail systems. Return something to almost any company and the credit will be made to the account/credit card used for the original purchase. The main reason is fraud prevention.

That doesn't work with how the aftermarket may sell or distribute tickets within groups, but it is working as intended from GenCon's perspective.

Jeff, The ticketing system is not fair for TD. If TD sells all of their slots and 10% are no shows, (not return, just not showing up) TD does not get the money for that slot. The no show is not TD's fault. The ticket has been paid for so they should get the money.

We should make it a point to encourage GenCon to allow whomever holds a ticket to return it (at minimum, for system credit.)

This is an issue for ALL events, not just TD. Gencon needs to pay event organizers for any paid tickets, not just the ones that get turned in.

Think of it like this, your friend paid for the ticket, if you don't want to do the run, why should he not get his money back?

The thought is that you paid your friend for his ticket, so you'd like to get your own money back.
