This came up during the first round, when those beads were +2. That would make them on par with UR Volunteer Ioun Stones and Charms, and with a Bead Expander looking to come this year also.


Beads have already been defined as more powerful than Charms and Ioun stones though so they are a bad comparison. In fact we already have a rare bead that gives +3 to ability scores.

I agree that a bead expander complicates this a bit, but I am not sure lowering the power of a slot is the right direction to go.


Bead of the Deeper Ones is a Completion Token, which in many cases are more powerful than Rares from ten packs.


True but we are talking about +1 vs +3 here. :)

+1 on a bead is what we should expect on an uncommon.

Assuming the functionality is the same, should consider using language identical to Quiver of Boosting which is:
Your ammo tokens deal +2 damage
(Back slot)
So probably
Your ammo tokens deal +2 cold damage

I liked the Prior version of Bracelets of Serpent Sight.

Melee has gotten +2 damage at Rare in the wrist slot since 2012 Bracers of fire (with additional damage types in 2015, 2017, and +2 STR Stalker Bracelets in 2023).

Physical Ranged has gotten +2 damage at Rare in the wrist slot since 2003 in Bracers of Archery (reprinted in 2004-7, 2008, and 2016).

Spell has no wrist damage bonuses at Rare.

I think a +2 to spell damage wrist slot item, or something like it is overdue.

Having a +2 to ranged damage wrist item at Rare gives Spell something Melee and Ranged have both had for a decade, and also acts as a reprint of Braces of Archery in this set for new players.

With Shiver Quiver now only impacting ammo, it seems very likely to be a useless rare to most players; first they have to be playing ranged, and then they need ammo tokens.

I think it would be better as just +2 cold to physical ranged attacks (giving up the back slot is a big opportunity cost).

Or, it could give +1 to saves and +2 cold damage to ammo tokens.

This looks like a good set. I might suggest removing the Rogue ability from Seth's Ring of Shadows; the +2 to damage is plenty good on its own for a Rare ring and a once per game skip of a Sneak Attack prep round just isn't going to be used unless the owner doesn't own any other Rogue tokens.

Skipping a turn for the Sneak Attack prep round isn't a fun experience, and one of the first things a new Rogue player does is acquire one of the numerous low rarity tokens which allow them to skip all Sneak Attack prep rounds for the entire run - this will still be a top priority for a new player even if they already own Seth's Ring of Shadows.

Edit: Actually, if the Rogue ability were changed to a once per game Sneak Attack with a Ranged weapon, that would be a pretty great ability to have.
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

Seth's Ring of Shadows should be +1 damage. Lots of precedent for that. If it needs a kicker, let rogue skip the prep round every room.

Edit:
For precedent, look at this year’s ring of sacred touch.

Blanket+2 damage shows up at higher rarity:
Ring of frost (transmute) and Ring of havoc (UR) that are +2 damage for melee

Edit 2:
Would the arrow of Horus be better at +3 hit and expanded Crit range? There are times where ammo doesn’t get used since it could miss. That said, if the arrow is targeted at those already with a mid to high Ranged hit, then no need to change anything.

Affects is misspelled. The 's' at the end of 'ignores' should be omitted.
+4 to AC & ignore 1st Undead Touch effect (not dmg) that affects you in game

Charm of Gifted Vigor
Should be templated like last year's tokens if possible.
+1 to CON (Bard & Rogue: total +2 to CON)
