Thank you all again for your help in tweaking out the Safehold program. Please see the link to the latest PDF. Not a whole lot has changed since the last version. The Hireling Elven Archer has been changed to Hireling Fletcher -- which I think is the only rules change.

We did update the recipe again to make it maybe easier for newer players to make a Safehold V by reducing the higher level Trade tokens -- and raising the lower level ones. We also make the Hireling even cheaper to again help newer players.

Underllings and Followers will not follow this same low cost structure, but we thought it was good to make these 1st level benefits a wee bit cheaper. We will decide the Underlings costs later in the year.

Please have a look at the rules at the link. This is the last chance to make any changes or find errors before we skip on to the posting of the 2024 token images. Thanks for your help!

PLEASE no comments here about the Savehold V recipe. We will have a different post for that soon,

Hirelings all look good to me.

Underling Wizard could use a change so that Druids and Damage Spellcasters aren't double dipping damage with the Rogue and Barbarian respectively. Maybe adjusting the Wizard to be + spell damage and the Cleric to be + healing?

Follower Dragonkin is still underpowered and should be swapped to another slot that isn't expanded already. As in previous thread, the Spectacles and high CHA grant an additional figurine slot. I like Bead or Waist here. Follower Toadkin looks good IF we plan on other UR or UR+ Shins to come out and increase that slots power and viability.

Everything else looks on point.

Hireling archer is +2 ranged damage (spells and missiles). Is it intended that an archer increases spell damage? +2 damage on spells is usually UR level power - are hirelings intended to be UR power? If not, perhaps make the damage Hirelings +1 damage?

Underling Wizard and Underling Rogue stack for spell damage if you can bring more than 1. Is this intended? Should Rogue only be Missile Damage? Should the damage be +3 given relics are usually +3 damage? Underling Cleric is dramatically less powerful than the others - should it maybe heal? I can't see anyone actually building a Cleric other than to complete a set, unless maybe it just comes with safehold 4?

Follower fiend is almost certainly the only follower that needs to be made. With it, you can equip Luna's for +4 charms, and Greater Charm Bracelet for +3 charms. I don't think expanding any of the other slots equals the power of adding +3 charms. That said, dragonkin and Toadkin are by far the least powerful and won't be made, unless they actually come with a Safehold 3.

I think it looks great and think it is print worthy.

If I was to suggest one change it might be to replace the Oracle with a Squire or Shield Bearer which would provide +3 AC. This would give new players choosing dwarf warriors, paladins, and others looking to stack AC an option.

I think Follower Fiend and Follower Dragonkin could use a change.

I would much prefer replacing them with a Charm Slot Expander and a Ioun Stone slot expander.

Wrist is way too powerful in comparison, and figurine is way too underpowered.

I think all mentions of +Ranged damage should be changed to + Missile damage so spell casters can't double dip

The rest are looking good though!

  • It's only push damage...how bad could it be?!

Agreed that we shouldn't have +Ranged and +Focus. Maybe switch Wizard to "-5 Damage from Acid, Darkrift & Poison"? It would be thematic with the Druid

You may want to make a restriction on underling elf wizard to scrolls specifically useable by your class otherwise this a relic level ability since the Tomb of Useful Spells an URs was errata to be your class specific scrolls.

I think the Hirelings and Underlings are fine as is Re: Ranged damage, but, if they change, please make sure that there is:

At least 1 spell damage boosting Hireling
At least 1 spell damage boosting Underling

Agree 100%. My only concern comes from getting 2 Hirelings and Underlings where Ranged damage and Focus stacks by taking both.

I like where this is heading.

I think folks might like to have addition underlings, hirelings and followers choices added to the mix over the years. Example, when class cards are redone. This may involve some way that once you have a Safehold V that you can do get more underling stewards at an increased price or folks could save a few to see if what comes out later is more to their liking. Similarity for Safehold IV and Safehold III

Can I use Omni Orb in lieu of Horn of Plenty in Charm of Avarice transmutes? Which tokens in that recipe can it replace?
I play Wizard.

I think the real problem was letting everything that effects range damage bonus also bonus up spell damage. It make things way harder to balance now. It was better when only focus increased spells.
