For instance, the Bead of the Buccaneer reads " +1 to DEX (Bard and Rogue: total +2 DEX). Does that mean the Bead only gives the Bard and Rogue +1 to DEX if they are not already at +2 to total DEX? Or does it mean they get +2 to DEX? If the later then why not just remove the word "total' and have it read "Bard & Rogue: +2 DEX". Same goes for all the other Tokens like this.

Thanks...other folks thought your example means the Rogue would get +3 total -- so it's +1 and +2 with your example. I am inclined to believe the current way is the best.

Good catch! I added the classes for it.

If it read simply “Bard & Rogue: +2 DEX” - then many players especially new ones might read that as the Bard and Rogue get an additional +2 for a total of +3.

Maybe “Bard & Rogue: +2 DEX instead” if you don’t like the “total +2” wording

I like highlighting the bigger benefit to the specific classes first. How about: "Bard & Rogue +2 DEX, all others +1 DEX"

And you could do this with the others. Bracelets of Far Reach: "Ranger +3 to Missile damage, all others +2 to Missile dmg"

Peter Adkison once told me a funny story about him and Richard Garfield going to some game store in the middle of nowhere to play because the store won a contest. Peter is playing a kid and next to him is Richard Garfield is playing another. The kid playing Peter is hyper excited -- like he is going to beat Peter right off the bat. And he did...at least in the kid's mind. He had a card that read "Player loses next turn", and in his mind that meant Peter would lose the whole game next turn. The kid was so excited that Peter was debating whether or not to tell the kid he misunderstood the card....when Richard Garfield spoke up. He grabbed that card and told the kid the proper way to understand "Player loses next turn."

He then took a marker and wrote on the card that it INDEED now did work as the kid thought it orginally did -- but only against Peter Adkison. That card is considered a legal card since Richard signed it!

Anyway...the point of the story is that you should do your best to make stuff clear on tokens and Magic cards, but you will never get 100% of folks to read it how you want. Be happy with 99%.
