TOPIC: LFO- R3-Ebony Bay -Sat 6:02 PM

Hi everyone! I am a completely new player looking for the rest of my party to hopefully get some advice on how to play. I am doing R3-Ebony Bay At 6:02 PM on the Saturday of Gen Con. My friend and I both have tickets for the same run, she is also a new player, so there are 8 more people we’re looking for. And any advice for a new player would be appreciated. I’ve been checking out the forms which is how I figured out that I should probably set up this message. Looking forward to having an awesome time!

Welcome! You’re already ahead of the game by coming here to try to find the rest of your party. (The admins might want to move your thread to the “GC ‘22 Adventuring Groups Form Here” thread; please don’t be offended if they do.)

Here’s some advice for new players:
1. Time is the biggest enemy in the dungeon.
2. Think about what class(es) you might most like to play. (Spellcasters? Melee? Ranged? Do you want to be a healer or do you want to stab/shoot/blow up monsters? Do you like buffing the rest of the party?) Look over the character cards (available under How to Play) to learn more about the attributes of each class.
3. Consider checking out the free character creator app, website, or Excel spreadsheet available under Resources. I’ve found that using those tools really helps me understand what the options are for various slots and what a given token does for a build. You can focus on 2022 tokens since that is what you will get in your 10-pack when you check in.
4. Consider signing up for Merlin’s Well to request a free starter pack of tokens.
5. If you don’t find your whole party in advance and can’t be sure what character you will play, (a) plan to get to coaching about 20-30 minutes before your run time and (b) have a backup plan if you preferred class is taken. For example, I main Barbarian, but I can swap to Fighter, Dwarf Fighter, or Paladin pretty easily.
