That is a feature, not a bug.

Put differently, when Legendaries first came out, Jeff said he expected players to take years to make them, spending time collecting the needed trade goods and other ingredients.

And that is what some of us do. I buy about what Iross buys a year. Having been playing a bit longer and when physical dungeons happen at Gen Con have a full group that plays with me. That said I have made 3 maybe 4 legendaries (CoA's I made as Relics and then they got upgraded to Legendaries so I don't count them).

I like that Legendaries are borderline unobtainium. By most metrics, they're not efficient to build, but offer a nice nudge for those willing to travel to Mordor.

That was also my experience, other than CoA, I built the collection over many years and that combined by a little extra gold investment pushed over the top to several oranges this past year. But it took years of positive momentum to hit that point. Now with the amassed resources mostly spent it will likely be awhile before new oranges arrive to me, baring dumb luck.

The only reason I have my non-CoA legendary is that I got lucky enough to pull a legendary in treasure, and traded it for almost all the stuff I needed to make my Ashenne's. Otherwise I mostly stick to Relics, and am slowly saving up to eventually make a second legendary.

Since you are getting close to making your first legendary are you going to make 1 that can only be used by 1 class or one that can be used by multiple classes? Not saying there is a right answer to this. I do however have a follow up if it one be a class specific. If you cannot play the class which your only legendary is for how are you going to feel about that?

It'll be class-specific, I'm not sure how the other classes fare with "essential" vs "nice to have" on their legendaries, but the Rogue necklace is one I'd consider essential as soon as you start hitting the upper part of Nightmare.

As for not getting to play my class, it's a good question - but as long as it's only once in a while I don't mind too much, and anyone crafting legendaries is likely arranging their runs and class in advance anyway.

It's definitely by design, and I don't mind them being that way at all - it'll make me appreciate them all the more when I do craft any of them, which has always been Jeff's intent. I suppose that what I'm trying to say is that, for the average player who will hardly ever get to craft a legendary, it'd be nice if they could choose from several tokens which are meaningful to their specific character, rather than one item from a larger pool of legendaries which go in every single build regardless of class and feel very generic as a result.
I play Rogue. Occasionally I even play Rogue well.

That makes the assumption you are only playing with people that are crafting legendaries and maybe you are. If you are playing in a PUG. Someone without a legendary has the exact same rights to play a rogue as someone with a legendary. And obviously I don't know who you play with, so it might not be a valid thing to think about for you.

It's never been an issue for me; I've done my fair share of PUGs at GenCon, and always been fine with playing a different class if someone else wanted to play Rogue. Although I've not done a huge number of PUG runs, I've never seen anyone carrying legendaries in a PUG since I started playing in 2015, so based on that my assumption's always been that most legendary players prearrange their runs so will know what class they are playing. That may well be a GenCon thing or an outlier though...

I don't think you follow what I am saying, but that is okay. If you, Iross, play in a pug you might not get to use your class specific legendary because someone else might want to play rogue whether they have a legendary or NOT. And is sounds like you would be okay with that so I will drop the point.
