I've been playing and volunteering since 2017, I've been a DM and Coach, I'm like the 4th biggest collector on truedungeontokens, and I had no idea about these dots until just now.
I came here to sing and collect tokens, and I'm alllll out of money.

My guess is that different colors would increase the cost. It would be nice to have an easier way to distinguish them though, instead of the dots (or in addition to) maybe there's another way to mark them on the face of the Token.

Vol tokens being onyx seems legit to keep them visibly unique.

I also like the idea of hot pink, though I get why fewer colors is good.

Completion and tbo tokens (so monster bits also) seems like a great idea to have off from standard like Bronze or rusted copper as opposed to gold or plat backed. Black or red would be cool though black lends itself toward some shenanigans that multicolor was added to protect against.

Generally I have helped my fellow dungeon crawlers not mulch the rarer tokens, even those with dots. If they were more obvious, I may be able to just spend less time scouring and verifying the transmutes, or having the conversation “do you really want to mulch that one?”

Having the incredibly visible different color would make the conversation for newer players or those that are not token-a-holics easier.

I've been playing since 2008 and this is the first I've heard of them, honestly.

I have to say the dots have been discussed on the forum many times, so I think it says more about both your forum usage than how long you have been playing...lol.

I don't doubt that's the case, but I'd argue that's an even stronger case to replace the dots with something more obvious.

I wouldn’t replace the dots, but add another visual queue. We’ve seen Onyx backs on completion tokens before, and IMO it would be the absolutely easiest way to add an extra cue that also doesn’t really add overhead to TD. If this was implemented, if you see onyx, you know it’s special in some way. It’s either a vol token, a completion token, or from a special 8k purchase.

They have been mentioned in at least 3 different threads in the last year (not counting this one). I don't know how many since they were introduced on the 2019 tokens. I don't think it invalidate's your argument for a case to replace the dots, but I don't think it invalidates my argument that length of play vs forum use is more likely to have keyed someone into to their existence.

We should definitely not replace the dots, as they are very useful, and this would cause further confusion in later years. Augmenting them, if deemed necessary, would make more sense.

Sure, to be clear, by 'replace' I mean find a more obvious system of identification", not "I never want to see dots on a token again"
