Greyseer, I also forgot. I TOTALLY agree with you on the tactical advantage of the ranged attack. My very first run at TD we had encounters that had restrictions on melee and we were crushed with nearly no ranged ability. I happened to be the Ranger with my first 10 tokens. I think I had a -1 stick... I don't remember. But I swore that would never happen again to our party!!!! (and I've had to explain it when people get excited that I'm not using two weapons, I once got a lecture on how to maximize the damage, which I like to do, but including the whole picture of the party)

Oh, I fully respect the rules of show up and dice off, but if I can prevent what happened to you guys at Origins by talking about it first then it makes the initial meeting more conversational vs. confrontational.

Please forgive the randomness of this reply, trying to put something so philisophical in order is a bit of a challenge.

I believe I get what you are saying, it shouldn't be those who post first or have made years of purchases who get to call the classes. But when it comes to TD you can either come prepared and hope to optimize your chances of success or come to the table, roll for a class conflict and hope a) the person who lost is not a sore loser - as so many of the puzzles are team dependant, and b) you just didn't cripple the party.

When it comes to dealing with Hardcore I think coming prepared as best as possible by working with others to ensure best gear per class is the way to go.

The nice thing is all the weapon and armor gear any class carries can be used by either fighter making it the ultimate backup, then there is the Elven Mage for those who show up and there is a conflict in a magus build.

In reflecting in all the years of TD only one time did I get "encouraged" to switch from Cleric to Fighter for a run someone had purchased all the tickets for, but had failed tell me in advance of the class switch. That was a fun dash back to the hotel room.

So, I guess what I am trying to say is we are totally down with going with Dicing for the Ranger at the Convention if that's the way you want to go.
Again no hard feelings on our end. We are ready for either situation.

I just got off the phone with our Ranger - and he's saying to keep things pleasant - he will go with the Dwarf Fighter. You can have the Ranger. See you there soon!

This is fantastic, I really appreciate it. I think this will help make the party a little more balanced, we would have had two players with less stats over all. I'm pickup up a few more tokens to "finish" off my Ranger and I'm working on building a more complete second and third character so I have better options. I will admit, I was too heavy into one class that didn't translate well to much anything else.

I'm going to try a few different builds in the next couple years, unless I can get my hands on that Keen Slayer Bow! B)

Sorry I was slow to respond, this summer is slipping by way too fast.

Brad, does the current class list reflect the changes we've made dropping one of our players and adding your guest?

Yes, as far as I know. Ryan, who we picked up, is a very experienced player who can play multiple classes.

Just dropping an index note here - this thread is currently marked as LFO/LFM (1), since Brad has a ticket for sale here . Since the index points to this thread for the run, people looking for tickets could miss that there's one available here if they only read this thread.
