TOPIC: Minor DM irritation from Origins

Yeah, this is breaking some cardinal DM rules, that are in the DMG and the quizzes we get each year.

Hopefully the DM wised up when you mentioned the AC, but it would be better to know someone had checked up on that.

If the DM had a physical difficulty with the belt, they should have kept it to hand, or on the token bucket, or something, or just set the cards on the corner of the table away from the picture, or drawn a symbol with a dry erase marker, or just asked you to name any bard symbol, or just told you the Lore.

It doesn't provide details about what is wrong, but I'm guessing it isn't very expensive and gives people a minimal time, low pressure way to feel they are being listened to.

Yeah, those are at least one of the conventions we play at (I wanna say Origins).

I wasn’t there, and I could be wrong, but as I was reading what happened I thought perhaps the DM was trying to give the lore in a more immersive way. Instead of saying “here it is,” maybe he thought he was being clever by giving an easy trivia question so it didn’t feel like a total gimme. If so, it obviously didn’t come across that way. (I had no idea there were so many different styles of lute.)

But just because his intentions might not have been bad that doesn’t mean it was handled properly.

I think the DM would have accepted any answer. Who knows really?
