@Marques Domask - I know transmuting was something I've been meaning to looking into after seeing people sitting down at the booth right outside the entrance. I'll do some research on that tonight and see if I can do anything with all my extra flak.

@edwin - That's kind of what I've been noticing too. Most are in that 2 - 4 dollar range with some spikes here and there. Never hurts to hear it from other people though!

@Wade Schwendemann - Thank you for the welcome! I'd love to get a level 5 token! I know when I flipped the card over I was like "DAMN". I'll definitely see if I can trade with some people on here and get myself geared up for next time! Also I totally want to volunteer -- I was thinking about doing that in Madison. Our guide in E2 was a blast and actually held a brief conversation with me off script. I loved it!

Jonathan W wrote: Do you have any recommendations from where? I saw the booth in the exhibit hall but didn't make the time to stop for it. I know I was looking at TD Tavern's website to kind of get a feel of what other items were out there.
Also thank you for welcoming me! This community has been great so far!

My #1 suggestion would be to focus on building a full rare set for your class first, any fully rare build should run you around or less than $100

Any tokens higher than rare will start around $100 each and go up from there.

As a new player I would suggest you wait until next years tokens come out and buy or trade for a Cher's Hat. It's an ultra rare token that uses your hat and 2 of your ioun stone slots to gain level 5.

Welcome to the game, Jonathan! You’ve gotten a ton of great advice in this thread.

If you want to keep playing Rogue, you’ll want a Masterwork Thieves’ Tools token, which allows 1 skill check re-try per adventure. They sell for $2 or $3 on the secondary market, but I have an extra I’d be happy to give you if we’re at the same convention. (My husband plays Rogue and we saved one from the 2018 token packs specifically to hand off to an aspiring Rogue someday.) Please let me know if you are interested and haven’t snagged one already.

@Arcanist Kolixela - That list is amazing and I'll see if I can put together something similar tonight! You hit the nail on the head though -- I was looking to spend ~$100 or so and get my character sheet filled out before I jumped into the (arguably) prettier colors. I absolutely love that you can run with a set of rares and have a really solid starting point. Also I'll keep an eye on the 2020 tokens and that hat!

@BeLinda Mathie - Thank you for the welcome! If there's anything I've taken away from my experience with True Dungeon so far, it's been that everyone is so wonderful and welcoming... and helpful!
I haven't acquired a set yet, but it is on my list of things to get. I got 8/9 boxes picked easy peasy and then I messed up my last one. The nice GM let me retry and I got it on my second attempt, but I totally needed them for that box.

Welcome to the Forums and the game. I absolutely love it. You’ve received some very good advice here. I also suggest the starter kits on Trent Tokens for a rare in nearly every slot.
I look forward to welcoming you to a run. I coach quite a bit so I get to meet a lot of people.

I'm not the biggest fan of those starter kits - IMO for the same money you can buy a better starter kit by picking your own tokens. A few of the included rares feel like they were dropped in there to get rid of them - ex: Cloak of the Bat, Loki's Trickster hat, Tempest Runestone, and shirt of the valiant are all rares I've never considered including in any build.

The starter kits limit themselves to current year tokens only, so I can imagine the choices getting pretty thin at certain slots if the total token pool is only 120.

Actually the ones I sell Aren’t limited to current year tokens but rather the best Rare tokens I have in my possession. Also they are Mostly Rares not one or two sprinkled in amongst the mix of common and uncommon. For example: some of my starter kits have bracers of lighting or Shurikens

Good news is that I've gotten a ton of advice and got my build all set up for the next time I play. I plan to do more research on what other builds look like, but right now I feel like I'm in a great spot for an enthusiast. Next step is going to be looking into volunteering for Gamehole Con I think -- Planning on putting in my app for that in the next couple days or so!
