TOPIC: Request for new difficulty level between Normal and Hardcore

I think you will see something like this for 2020 by difficulty. No suggested builds or tokens just some ranges to give players a sense of the differences between the difficulty levels.

3rd level spell, equivalent to fireball. 20 damage to all monsters, no slide. So better then Ray of shock (18 damage with a slide to hit AC 15). Basically what I was trying to get at was big spell, restore spell, big spell again.

It's the level 5 wizard's big attack spell. 20 shock damage to all monsters.

I got the impression they're running level 4 characters

I’ll be honest, getting level 4 characters comfortable in hardcore takes a well organized group. I define comfortable as able to take out all but room 7 and getting to room 7 without death. It is not impossible, but unlikely. Ten shirts of linked healing will help.

A fifth level bard and Lute of Free Fury helps. A Cleric and a Druid help. Canteen of quaffing all around and good potions help. So do Sealas Flowers or whatever the current 1 hp heal items are.
