How many True Dungeon events did he have in his wish list? He must have had really bad luck not to get more events with a sub 1000 wait list spot.

Agreed. I have four people and I created four identical wishlists of 50 each, but only about 45 true dungeon runs (15 of each module).

We all hit go at noon and we all got over 6000 initial numbers. And we waited patiently and we got four tickets to all three modules. The only event we didn’t get was floor catan.

This is the same strategy I used last year when me and my wife had over 5000 numbers.

Interesting. We had the opposite strategy, we all had about 50 TD runs on our wish list but they were all different, so we had about 150 possible runs.

If it didn’t already take me two hours to craft four identical wishlists on four accounts. I did entertain the thought of 200 unique runs instead of 50 but I figured one of us would get a low number. Nope we all got like 6500, made us sweat.

Getting full runs at Gen Con is a LOT harder than an Origins or Gamehole Con. (Can't speak to Pax South.) We had four people trying with 45+ runs each on their wait lists. Ultimately, we could have had E1 x 1, E2 x3, and E3 x 2 for 6 total runs. Since our goal was one of each at Gen Con, we released the extras. It was a stressful 45 minutes. Glad that's over, and really glad we've decided to do multiple runs as a guild only at the smaller cons.

I have been working on getting full run by myself since 2010. I have had help I think 2 years out of that, which means someone else picked up a run but did a coordinated drop with me so I could grab it as soon as it was available. I have spent longer working on get full runs than this year by far, but I had more options. This year I grabbed the first full runs I could find and wasn't too worried about day and times. That said this year was one of the most stressful because I had 1full runs(it was Odin's) until right before I stopped. I usually have 2 runs and am just working on getting times I like and that last run.

This year it seemed E1 was the hardest to get for me and that surprised me. I thought E3 would be the hard one to find.

I suspect Gencon’s registration was faster than prior years. I am guessing the first 500 or so people weren’t even given numbers, that it just auto-processed their requests. Seeing how quick some events sold out, I am pretty sure more people were in that first batch than previously (as I said, I didn’t even get a number - it just instantly processed everything I put in.) If you do enough years, eventually you get to go early on one of them :)

We had a similar experience. E1 was the hardest to get and the last one we snagged. The lowest queue number person in our group sought a mix of E1, E2, or E3 on Friday, but only got E2 and E3. We ended up putting the E2 back and went with E1 and E2 on Thursday that other members of our party were able to grab. Oh well. At least it's over.

We were looking for full runs only, which is a very big difference. Been doing this with 5-12 people each year for a decade and this was the first year we had this kind of luck.

Yeah, this was the worst year for DDA. While we did manage to get the number of full runs we wanted, every E1 we managed in a cart was on saturday (we had 13 wishlists, at least).
And some of us arent available that day, so if you have 3 tickets for your nightmare/hardcore E1 on thursday from 11-4:30 start, let me know.
