There is more GenCon than TD?

I had no idea.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Yeah, it goes back to the areas that used to house TD events. There also used to be some lockers, but those are gone too.

Delayed gratification to be sure, but hopefully by 2022 the odds in the lottery have improved by 1400 rooms ...

Does anyone know if there is a way to check the housing portal without having a badge. I was not planning on going to GenCon this year, but now I have a shiny Golden reason to reconsider...

There is not.

At this point, there are no downtown in block rooms available - they pop up from time to time (and disappear quickly).

If you want a room, you can always book in the outlying hotels by the airport and the ring road at any time through Hotels.com or your favorite booking site - frequently for a cheaper price than the housing portal would give - especially for Wednesday and Sunday nights.

Part of the reason I was planning to skip is because I wasn't going to be home when the housing block went live, and 2018 reiterated how much I hate not being downtown.

Thanks, though. Maybe I'll try to see what I can find outside the housing block.
