This was their first year. I don't expect them to go anywhere. It was rough for me when I came through with 5 different things hanging off me, plus keys and phone, but we soldier on...

If this was their first year, perhaps they will determine they were unnecessary?

We can hope.

Ultimately, how many other conventions use them?

Their approach makes it pure security theater at best. If you're going to do just a cursory search of each bag, are you really going to prevent anything by this process? No. It is simply a headache to attendees.

Hmm I think it was Year 1 for TD at Pax South and there was a food vendor set up on the 3rd floor right next to TD.
Or was that year 2... gets a bit fuzzy but it DID happen so it is possible.
Sweet a combat room, we won't take damage!

That's news to me, and I've been at PAX South since before that 3rd floor area was there.

Though, certainly, it is possible. There's space to be had for a small portable stand kind of situation.
I came here to sing and collect tokens, and I'm alllll out of money.

They need something up there,
Con=Vacation for most,
Going down to long Sets of Stairs
Sucked.
Like most TD players in
Between the runs im trading,
Going over my Treasure pulls,
And having a blast,
It would be nice to have a stand with
Hit Pizza, or just Junk,
Chips and Candy Bars,
But at minimum some Cold
Soda-Pop up there.

of its prey, it is because of timing.

Am I the only one that found the exceptionally convenient elevator? Dropped you really close to the food area and it was seldom used. Overall I was pleased with the food choice and availability at Pax South, especially compared with Origins- it still burns my butt that all the food stands in the convention center at Origins seemed to close down at 5... you know, just when I’m starting to get hungry. And the rest of the time there were super long lines.

As for the metal detectors, the functional effect on me was that I didn’t ever plan on sticking my nose outside for anything. If there were food trucks, I never saw them and wouldn’t have used them. But my longest wait was maybe 10 minutes on the first day. Oh wait, one other functional effect - there was only one way in and out, which was a pain.

I see you rolled a Nat 20
On your spot check.
I seen some elevators but they
Were pretty far away, I guess I missed
The closer units.
If so, better but still not enough.

As for Origins, that’s a whole other
Story.
But with two new Adventures
This year,
I have nothing to say
Other then, I can’t wait.

Origins has north market super close to the convention center and the food is great.

North Market is awesome,
You could go there everyday
For the whole Con,
And eat something different and
It would be very tasty too each time.
