Thanks, Fiddy! My son (Andrew) and I have played TD before, 6 times over the past 3 years. We've always done Normal mode, and I understand that 'Normal' on True Grind is actually 'Hardcore' level difficulty, so I think that will be plenty difficult for us! We're basically looking to have fun, and expecting to die. Although hopefully not right away... we'd like to play for most of it!

While we don't have tons of tokens, we do have a few nice things (and some 'useful items') to bring and use. We also have 5th level rings. Between that and my instrument, I give the whole party a +2/+4 bonus with bardsong, which is I think where I can probably contribute the most. I can also do lore while singing, so if there are any opportunities for it I'll do that.

Warning: I like to SING when I play a bard. ;) My son just likes to play with the sliders, so he's not picky about a character class, but you probably don't want him in a situation where he has to memorize something, because he won't be able to do so with the limited prep time.

This is actually very exciting for me, because I've never had one of my TD runs show up in the forums before! I always go looking and don't find anything... so it's great to meet someone in advance!

Looking forward to seeing you in August!

Normal in Grind is close to Hardcore in the Dungeon, possibly slightly harder.

If we're on Normal, and I take Cleric, we'll likely all survive to the end, barring things that kill us by means other than hitpoint damage (which is likely to exist).

That said, if someone else wants to be Cleric, I'm happy to play whatever. And I'm happy to tone down my character depending on what the group wants.

Be aware, in Grind you auto-succeed all memorization. This includes Bardic lore, which you should hopefully plan to use on everything we come across. Bard knowledge can be extremely important in Grind.

There will likely be multiple DMs and multiple combat boards (barring a change from recent years), so make sure both know you are singing.

I will definitely let them know that I am singing! I'm used to approaching the DMs and letting them know my bonuses for it too, since it's higher than usual. And I'll make sure to get all of the lore possible. Interesting about auto-succeeding on the memorization checks. I did not know that.

Having a super-powered cleric around to ensure that we survive IMHO seems like a good thing!

Hello All,

My Son and I have tickets to this run. It will be our second run. We will be playing Vipers Pit on Friday.

So we are basicly noobs with nothing to our names.

My name is Gary and my son's name is Sam.

Looking forward to seeing everyone is about 16 days!

Welcome Gary! (and Sam!)

I realize that with this Grind only being your second event, that you may not yet have a preference for what class you play. But which ones look most interesting to you?

Since we've only had about half the group chime in so far, we'll probably need to do most of our planning when we show up, but it can be useful to know who is interested in playing which classes.

Combat class I think is what we will likely be best at.

Last year I played a rogue.

Great to see you here, Gary! I'm glad that we won't be the only True Grind noobs on the team, and that we have an experienced cleric like Fiddy to lead us!

Looking forward to meeting you all in less than 2 weeks!

Thanks to Fiddy and Gary for being such great players! My son and I had a wonderful time and I really enjoyed the roleplaying aspects of the game, which I didn't expect at all!

This was my first True Grind, and I suspect that it won't be my last... ;)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think your quick thinking saved the rest of the party while I was distracting dying to Loki.
