Good call, Druegar. But I don't see a TD email address for him.

FYI, sent him a message through his Facebook Messenger. I'm not connected with him, so I'm not sure if he'll see it. If you would like to see Grind return to GHC, please reach out to him and let him know as well. Maybe if there are enough voices, they will find a way to make space for us.

I will admit I was looking forward to grind at GHC. If the convention can find a spare room, or other area that would be adequate to do grind I am all for it. Although a discussion about grind between Jeff Martin and Alex Kammer might have already occurred and we just know the decision.

Also I have to wonder, would sharing the space between grind and the demo be a possibility? Since grind was only going to occur in the morning. Use the same room for both and just use the furniture casters from Gen Con to push the tables out of the room to switch it over to the demo?

But I also remember just how many unsold tickets there have been in previous years at GHC. I like the idea of having a demo which might entice new players. If the price of that demo is a loss of grind, it might be a good trade off.

I want to be very respectful with my post but also very honest. My vocal complaint stems from the love of the game not unfocused nerd anger. I find it really perplexing that a small room cannot be made for Grind. Eric is willing and able to run it. Many of us going are ready to play and spend the money on it........

You supposedly have more space for TD at GHC, they even currently advertise it on the upcoming events page as "Improved and Larger Event Space!. They even hyped it up in the email newsletters, that is a real sticking point with me as now they supposedly cannot find a spare 12x12 room? It's kind of laughable given that GHC is basically TD and a small room with 20 vendors in that huge Convention hall. They have LARPERS beat each other right outside the TD area, they cannot set up a few black curtains for Grind? Think about it, it's pretty funny and sad at the same time if space is the issue. (If it's not and something like Volunteer issues ignore my rant, no shade was meant. I'm just sad GHC TD keeps getting slimmed down,.)

GHC 2016 was really amazing, a lot of incentive to go especially with the "Best of" run. That alone made it a must go. Last year was still fun despite not having a best of run. This year it's down to two adventures and no Grind. It's becoming less attractive for me to even go at all, TD is the only reason I do. If this trend continues I'll skip GHC and go to PAX instead.

Eric, you have been killing it with Grind that you have me making ultimatums.

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

It really is a nicely done local con, as much as it's hearsay around these parts i do goto GHC to do non TD programming that i never seem to have time for at Indy/Columbus. My fellow formite and I went the 1st time because well duh TD, by the end of the 1st show we were comparing schedules and already planing next year due to how the con is laid out.

I drove 10ish hours each direction to do GHC and PAXU last year (too many miles/days on my hamster cube), by mid PAX it wasn't even a question which con was getting cut for 2018 for me.

-Incognito, we've had our verbal set-to's over the years about things but never doubt i admire and appreciate the work you put in to Grind and community here on the forums.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

At GHC I have seen them have an RPG table out in the open where spectators can watch an adventure. There are usually well-known RPG players involved.

I think it would be cool to see Grind done a couple times each day in this format. I'm sure a lot of people would watch and it could spark a lot of interest in TD.

Of course there would need to be a volunteer explaining to the crowd what was going on and stating while this is how combat is done in the traditional runs, there are also puzzles and props and other great stuff in the traditional runs.

Just a thought.

I think this, with maybe a large prop near the table, could drive a LOT of interest.

The more you get it out in the open, the more people will come by and check it out.

It is probably too late for this year of course, but a sealed pack reduced price event could also draw quite well. Or maybe have a standard price, with a discount coupon if you've played the demo event?

That might also work for PAX South.

So I heard back from Alex via FB messanger. He actually responded right away but I've been contemplating how to handle what he told me. In any case, I told him I would share it here so here goes...

1) He says space is not the issue, but is a lack of volunteers issue. He said their is more than enough space for TD to have Grind and then some.

2) Because it is a volunteer issue, it is up to Jeff and Lori.

To address #1, I don't know much about this as I have not volunteered yet. Normally, I would throw my hat in the ring to help out anyway I could but I will not be able to attend early, the first day, or the last day of the con this year due to other commitments.

To address #2, as much as I would love to play Grind and think ideas like Beetram's would be a great way to drive interest in TD from attendees, I don't want to "campaign" to Jeff and Lori considering what they're personally dealing with right now as well as just getting the two adventures staffed and up-and-running for GHC.

If something changes between now and November, I will be ready to play. But minimally, I hope Grind / Raid will return to all of the shows next year as it is always a highlight for me.
