TOPIC: A thank you to the players and coordinators

A thank you to the players and coordinators 5 years 8 months ago #1

This GenCon Mark's the second year I was a puzzle NPC DM. While I am great at the NPC acting part, I feel I'm still getting the hang of the puzzle DM part.

Thank you for all of your patience while I was working around remembering multiple damage options, technical difficulties, costuming limitations, handling a rogue box while keeping an eye on the room, and trying to be heard over everything else happening outside the room.

Apologies to any I ended up frustrating in some way due to my pestering them over technical problems or being a little too stuck to the script and routine of the room. With GenCon as expensive as it is, I want to give the players the best experience possible, so it never comes from a place of negativity or trying to be a pest. It's from a place of contributing towards TD being the top level immersive game event at the best four days in gaming, which pushes me to try and rise to that standard.

And though I was not there to witness it, I did hear that a certain wizard trapped on the astral plane got a fair amount of applause at the riddle reveal. I passed along the news to him courtesy of a speak-and-scry stone I happened to have, and he said to say thank you so much for the kind gesture. He also said not to worry about him, as he did eventually manage to find a rescue party to take him out of the astral plane, but since he was playing on hardcore he had to take eight points of eldritch damage in the process. ;)

Hawk you did a great job along with all the other voluntears. We certainly hope your “wizard” friend is back in the near future!

'Volun-tears': the tears you cry on sunday because you are sad it is over...and also because of the pain and exhaustion and being stuck still doing tear-down.

Thanks for volunteering :) You and all the other costumed NPCs were great this year.

Aint that the truth, this was my 1st Gen Con doing full time and didn't think the extra shift would drain me as much as it did. I loved it but realized how little else i really did this con compared to years previous. I managed to do all runs once except Viper.

If you passed through N3 room 7 on Fri night I apologize to parties who had 1 DM who couldn't speak and 1 who was learning the room on the fly (me).
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

You were great Hawk. Thanks for volunteering and for putting up with my shenanigans on my one run.

I had been staring at your avatar and wondering "I think that was him...was it him?"

You and the other wizard we encountered did a fantastic job in that room. I also heard great things about both of you from other people on other runs. I would say that your enthusiasm and acting were at the "Matt Naglee" level!

Thanks to you and the other NPCs (including Matt!) for a great experience.
