I finally got lucky on the room lotto this year, however for better or worse I have already fully pre-paid for a non-refundable room.

I assume there is some way for me to transfer my room lotto room to somebody else, or perhaps I keep the reservation but you check in to it.

It is the Le Meredien which is one of the closest hotels to the TD area. The room has one king bed and is $1,118 for 4 nights (Aug 1 through Aug 5). That's $239/night, plus $162 taxes & fees. I'm not completely clear if there will be more taxes or fees upon checking, but I don't think so.

Ithink there's no support for transferring the r eservation itself this year. You'd have to keep the reservation on your account but add the other person's name as another guest authorized to check-in.

This means one of 3 things requiring some trust would have to happen.

1. you give them your gencon password so they can enter their credit card info
2. they give you their credit card info to enter
3. you enter your credit card info trusting they'll use their own at check-in

Maybe with a temporary generated credit card number that some accounts support you could eliminate the risk on option 3.

Gen Con locked down the reservation system, you can't transfer the room within Q-Rooms or whatever it's called (you can just drop it, but then you might pay a penalty, and it goes back into inventory).

However, once they hand off the rooms to the hotels you can just call the hotel and transfer the reservation.

I'm sure you could find someone to commit to taking it off your hands after the transfer.
