TOPIC: Treasure pulls at origins?

Treasure pulls at origins? 6 years 1 day ago #1

Do you people have better luck with a 50pack box/100 pack box or with just 50/100 pulls from the treasure box itself?
Aye, that's the rub

While this will be my first trip to Origins, my experience at Gen Con and other cons has varied. I've done 100 bag, 50 bag, and of course straight pulls. In all cases, they worked out pretty evenly in the end so I wouldn't say one is better than another.

However, if you're looking for monster bits, I find the pull boxes are better.

Per TD the boxes/packs are from the same treasure mix so it should all be the same odds.

I have pulled a legendary from the treasure box (2016) and a legendary from a 100 pack (2017).

I concur. The pulls are about the same no matter which way you go. For a while I was doing better with the bags, but the last time I tried pulling from the box I got a relic and an UR, so I really have no complaints either way.

It is luck, they are supposed to be the same, but any particular case you could get lucky or unlucky. I personally love the premade bags because it saves time.

I like to do a little of both if possible. The bags are very convenient. I also like to pull from the boxes and to spread those pulls over the days of the Con. While everything is drawn from the same pool, not all of the treasure is available at any given moment. The boxes are continually refilled over the course the the Con, so that 25K gold bar may not be out to be pulled at the moment you are standing in front of it.

I have never done the bag thing just because of a “gut feeling” that the treasure boxes offer a better opportunity but it seems like people here are saying that isn’t true.

I've had good luck with the bags usually getting one better than the average rare or lower level trade token. I've also pulled blessed redoubt shield and helm plus odd UR out of the bags too.

I really hope there are some bags available with the number of groups going out with full TEs it could not down at the treasure boxes.

Thanks everyone for your input! I just pulled really bad last year, 56 uncommon and 16-19rares, but I am now leaning towards the 100pk bag!,

If you want to see how lots of folks did we do have a google doc with pulls from last year and another from the year before. Last link is in my signature.

That is just pulls in general though, not split up between bags and boxes, correct?

It might be interesting to do that next season, if people wanted.

FWIW, I believe it is the same either way.
