The cost of runs is probably the biggest out of control aspect of true dungeon. I can honestly say that for the first time ever I'm not even trying to get a ticket for every run at gen con. I don't think Jeff will ever listen but the cost of individual tickets is getting dangerously expensive.

As for tokens, a huge problem is that there is no reward for anything past hardcore. No xp no extra token. I guess there is a pin for nightmare success but there is absolutely no reward for epic. There is nothing driving players to try and challenge themselves. Players whined for years about needing to be able to get max xp easily and now it's easy. Simply put a bunch of rares on your character and you can get max xp easy peasy. If you want players, and I say players not collectors, players to want to equip the best tokens, the game should be set up to reward the best players playing the highest danger levels.

Also I don't think that the tokens have been particularly good the past couple of years. They are basically reprints with new names or weaker then previous tokens because of people crying about power creep. Tokens have to drive the game forward.

Finally the rules are set up in a way that make no choices necessary. Don't want to have to worry about range, don't worry about it. Monk, who cares that it makes no sense that a monk can punch as a ranged action. No choices.

I'm not sure how you overcome this but all of these combined don't bode well for the future of this game.

Very well said, I pretty much agree with everything and unfortunately feel the same. I'm not seeing the value across the board anymore in upgrading tokens, and frankly the runs, which is sad. When you look at the production value of the 2018-19 season with projection mapping and other great sensory interactions/rooms it felt like the value was there, every room was wow, it justified the higher price. Since 2020 on it's been very underwhelming with a major drop in quality and it feels too phoned in with Christmas Trees from Menards, overly reused props/walls, regurgitated puzzles etc. I am absolutely bored with VTD and even that is too expensive at $76. It should be $55 max.

Not trying to hate or be negative, just being honest. I met so many great people through TD that's what kept me in. I used to buy $2k Token lots and do 7-8 runs a con, and 2 VTD's. Now, I wince at 1 VTD a month and do it out of obligation, not desire. I think GHC will be enough for me for in person this year, the cost of GC does not seem worth it to me. A lot of experienced long time players feel this way and are exiting. Hope things change but hope is not a plan...
