So it seems I clearly cannot be trusted with cursed objects and a certain tome may have slipped through my fingers and escaped into epilogue after tricking me into carry it out of grind. Fortunately for us, a certain goblin was quick enough to prevent it from escaping into the wider world. However, we now find ourselves in the unexpected position of needing to find a new keeper for Ashenne Forbidden Tome… Since a number of you signed contracts with the book during grind this year perhaps one of you could be the one to contain it going forward.

RP hat off for a moment:
The blue book prop from grind is currently at TDHQ. Since some of you have expressed interest in owning it. I was thinking we could auction it off for charity. The book would then go to the winner with their next VTD swag.

Da Rules:
  • To bid, please msg me with an amount/the charity you're thinking of donating to here on the forms or discord between now and let’s say midnight eastern Wednesday on Nov 8th.
  • I will post the high bid/winning amount here.
  • If a bunch of bids come in at the last second we will go with the highest one with a time stamp before the cut off.
  • Once the bidding closes, I will notify the winner & they will have until the end of VTD18 (Sunday Nov. 12) to forward me proof of a donation to the registered charity of their choice before swag goes out the following week.
  • This is not ebay style. If you bid $10 expect to donate $10.

Please also note: This is just a bit of charity fun, the book/prop has no in game effects outside of this years now completed grind at GHC 2023.

Please also also note: The infernal powers affirm that the transfer of this "book" does not, in any way, dimension or realm, transfer ownership, custody, or any rights or privilege's to the un-nibbled mortal souls of the undersigned be they living, deceased, undead entities, or... other (No matter how tasty they may be).

Auction Closes : Midnight Nov 8th Est
Highbid : $400
Current winners charity : Extra Life

I too have scribbled in this tome!

If you place it upon your shelf, you can just barely hear it screaming out in the middle of the night, "PUT THE LEG IN THE BOX!!!!" followed by incoherent wailing.

Truly, a must-have item for any intrepid collector!

Tell you what:

If this auction goes over $1,000 I'll write a short D&D 5e adventure themed on both the events in Grind and featuring the party (themed - not explicitly mirroring) and put it up on drivethrurpg, splitting proceeds with the winner's chosen charity.

And I promise to poke him with Grunnel's pointy stick (repeatedly) until this task is completed!

My name is in there too. So cool! Wish I could afford it. Hopefully you get a lot of money for a good cause.

Your name should be in it - one shotting a draco-lich is pretty epic!

I assume one had to use the item to get to write one's name in it?

I held it 3 times, never used it though. I can't be trusted with such power.

That was my understanding. I picked up the tome and when I told the DM that I was going to read from it, I was told that I had to write my name into it first. There was only one other name in there prior to me.

Once we vaporized the king of Hell, both DMs asked our entire party to sign because of the shenanigans we pulled.

Yup you could handle it as much as you liked without signing or exploding. Generally speaking we only asked people to sign it if they exploded themselves with it.

That said I will fully admit we were a little loose with the signing "rules", it was more just for fun. Some groups had individuals sign, some had everyone sign if they did something particularly awesome, some might not have heard me ask/didn't want to so we moved on.
