Almost all tokens ever produced are still valid. There are a small handful that are no longer useable. Though you can buy current and older tokens. You do get 2 packs each for your adventure at Gen Con so I would not worry about picking up any additional tokens unless you really want to.

Quick question here (Sorry to hijack)...I thought you only got 1 Pack each for playing in the adventure at Gen Con. Did that change and I missed it?

First, thank you all for the responses. And no worries with hijacking it. I don't know how any of this works anyway. But I think you get 1 pack for the beginner adventure, Barb Beards. And 2 packs for full adventures, Darkhold Keep and Tome. I could be wrong though.

The following is from the GENCON upcoming Events. Barb's Beard seems to still be one sealed pack.

NOTE: Due to increased volunteer stipends, higher volunteer hotel costs and many other increased expenses, the admission fee for Tomb of Terror - 20th Anniversary Adventure is $108, while Darkhold Keep is $98. This price includes TWO 10-packs of Treasure Tokens (normally just one is given), a limited-edition Participation token, and at least three draws from a Random Treasure Generator.

Nice! I completely missed that somehow, and was just going based on previous years. Very cool! Thanks for the info!

I'm not sure if this was covered in previous replies, but if you're playing Barb's Beard you actually can't use tokens you bring with you, you can only use the tokens from your sealed pack at the start of the adventure.

I second a lot of the messages already stated and will give you my rules of true dungeon:
1) have fun
2) tokens are cool, tokens are fun, tokens can take up an entire room in your house and become an obsession
3) if you're worried about tokens, please see rule #1...your character (not you) can go into the dungeon virtually naked and still be entitled to and have the same experience as someone decked

I hope you all have a blast and feel free to say "hi" to and visit with folks outside the dungeon. If When you have a great time, I bet some folks will even have some tokens to give to you if you want to keep playing to get your addiction...I mean collection....started

Not sure if Merlin's wishing well thread is still active, but that's a great place to acquire some nice tokens for newer players.

Lastly, there is a fan facebook and (my favorite) a fan discord where you can come ask questions and the like. I'm sure many of us, myself included, will be happy to answer questions you have beforehand so you can go in feeling prepared and fully enjoy your time!
