TOPIC: Blunder weapon misfires and Virtual TD

Blunder weapon misfires and Virtual TD 3 months 1 week ago #1

Hello! I love the new Blunder weapons, and have gone all-in with a Deadshot build I'm dying to try out in VTD. One question I can't find the answer to though is: how are misfires calculated in the virtual game? Is it a certain die range (1-4), a Nat 1, or something else?

I asked Cranston, programmer of the Android and iOS apps, about this and he gave me permission to re-post this reply:
The apps do handle Blunder Weapons. When a backfire occurs, several things happen. A message is listed on the screen. The damage is set to 0, so the dice roller is set as a hit with 0 damage, and I send ‘backfire’ as the message. I am not sure if there is a graphic for that or not. I thought there was, but I am not sure. There are a few other ranged weapons that have a chance for backfire, but they all are covered the same way.

Unless you have a way to mitigate misfire damage, you'll need to manually subtract 2 HP when you see the "misfire" message.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?

Awesome--thanks! You don't happen to know what the frequency in-app is, do you? I'm going to assume some percentage, to emulate what's on the token edges.

Some guy named Kenneth once told me it was 7.38 gigahertz.

I imagine it's very true to what the damage wheel would indicate, but I'm not the programmer so I don't know for certain. However, there's a thread specifically for the True Dungeon Character Generators apps. I'd say that would be a great question to post in that thread.

It's based on the damage wheel on whatever weapon you are using. If there are 6 spots and one is a bomb, that's a 1 in 6 chance. There are a couple that have 2 bombs, if 8 spots and 2 are bombs, that is 2 out of 8 or 25% chance.

Perfect, thank you! And yikes, that means my character has a 1-in-4 chance of a backfire in VTD--but then again, you don't wield one of these beauties if you want to play it safe. :D
