TOPIC: TD Tickets at GenCon

I'm planning on going to GenCon this year, but it's been a really long time since the last time I went. How do you buy TD tickets for GenCon? Is it through GenCon's event site, or through td.events? Is there a way to purchase tickets in advance, like Patrons and AG do for VTD?

GenCon's site, and not unless you have VIG, or win a lottery that I'm not sure TD is doing this year.

VIG do not get tickets in advance and we have been firmly told "no" every time we ask for it. Historically TD has had VIG-only runs though.

Yep. I think there was 1 VIG-only slot per module in 2019.

Yep. I think there was 1 VIG-only slot per module in 2019.

It's also worth noting that a VIG can only buy 2 tickets, 1 for themselves, 1 for their companion, not the whole run.

Aside from the very limited TD presale to a contest winner, yes. I think there has historically been one slot of each dungeon held aside as a VIG-only, but that was free-for-all among all the VIGs, same normal tickets.

Edit: And as noted above, you could only buy tickets for the VIG + companion, not the full run.

The free-for-all nature of GenCon TD ticket buying means we usually have every adult member of Guildy McGuildface make a wish list with TD runs at the top, and then have a frantic text chain trying to figure out what we got, and whether there are any runs we can release back into the pool. (We usually do only one run of each TD adventure at GenCon as a guild, since there is so much else to do. Some of us sign up for additional runs with other groups, though.) And it still takes ~5 people signing up to make sure we get the 2-3 runs.

For those who have never experienced a regular year of Gencon ticket buying, please be aware it as absolutely atrocious. Your chances of getting full runs without multiple people submitting coordinated wishlists is low to say it lightly. As always the forums are your friend.
