Just jam a tennis ball on the end and you're golden. Your deity will never know the difference.

I didn't think it was something that was needed and still don't but it has not been an impediment like I expected. I do think there are a couple things that would improve it or improve use with it.

1. Making sure the DM gives the oppurtunity for buffs to be applied before calling out for the roller. This mostly applies to the clerics Bless and Prayer. This is not a fault of the DM's or roller just something that is likely to improve as DM's get familar with it.

[he said other stuff but I deleted it because this is the relevant part for me]

I totally agree with this. We had to have everyone reroll because she immediately called for rolls before cleric could come off mute and declare Prayer. Wasn't a big deal, and something I fully expect will improve as people get more used to it.

Overall I love the dice roller though. It makes everything seem to run smoother, and it made me feel more connected to my party because I could see what was happening. It wasn't just disembodied voices yelling numbers.

Overall I am very impressed by it! It's super responsive and speeds up combat a ton.

A few minor requests/issues:

1. Add the natural to-hit roll on the screen. It's there for saves, but not attacks.
2. Add an easy way to use FoP: Panther to reroll. Maybe an option to enable it and then it auto-rerolls the next time you would have missed.
3. Do Monk stuns show up? I didn't see any but maybe I didn't roll well enough. This ties into #1 I guess, I don't know if I got a nat 19.
4. Monk Benrow's Thrown attack shows up as the melee icon. This is especially important on combats where melee vs ranged matters to the DM.

Edit: if it matters I am using TDCC

I like the roller

I dislike that it removed some of the RPG elements of it. The critical are basically lost in the noise and the just got it kinda color is definitely missing

I also think we should be able to flip the “target” for multiple targets and send that up on the roller reveal. This makes it a bit more real as we launch our shots at multiple targets, it’s not wait and see. In room 7 in 2019, the room had two slide boards. It caused a commission of identifying target preslide. That can be reproduced by having target identified in that room

Stuns do show, I think maybe only if the target is stunnable, but they definitely show up.

I quite liked the dice roller. I would love it if it reflected spells by a notification other than a blank spot. Like, maybe Bless and prayer could say that in the Cleric spot on the screen?

Speaking of Bless and prayer, maybe those buffs could be integrated into the roller so pressing the prayer check box added to everyone’s rolls automatically?

My god sees no difference between modes of attack. IMO it's not so much an issue with the system as with that stoney old paylor. Get with the times man B)

Overall I enjoy it; there's definitely an excitement factor, making the DM do less arithmetic is a good way to save time, plus it feels a little more like live TD.

But also like live TD, it makes a huge difference when the DM uses some of that saved time (not a lot, maybe 10-15 seconds total per round) bringing the numbers to life with RP flavor narration of some of the attacks. The best DMs are really good at this, even asking during training what kind of weapon you use so they can tailor their descriptions accordingly.

I would still like to see target AC/DC values displayed at the bottom of the screen. I realize we don't get that info in live TD, but seeing whether you missed by a hair vs missed by a mile is a difference I enjoy about VTD. Of course I can still figure it out anyway by watching multiple rounds closely enough ("hmm, this 29 missed but someone else's 30 last round hit, I guess the AC must be 30"), but there's no need to make me work that hard.

This is very minor but it would be nice/cute if a polymorph attack did a little animal or claw or something symbol instead of the melee sword symbol.

+1

Add the natural to-hit roll on the screen. It's there for saves, but not attacks.

+1000000

Put the DM's initiative roll on the screen next to ours! (don't make the DM click an extra time, just automatically pop up a die for this as soon as they call for a player init roll)

Give the DM a "quickly roll d20 on screen for some arbitrary purpose" button.

In fact, give them that button for d6 too. You know, just on the off chance that there might be a room in which rolling a d6 quickly would be handy. ;)

Yes, my AC is lower than the Wizard's. No regrets!

I don’t know if it was b/c of the dice roller, but our DM today did all the spellcasters first then took care of the melee rolls. I liked that a lot.

Ask your DM to turn them on.
