TOPIC: So about those Skulls

So about those Skulls 2 years 4 months ago #1

Do you think as we get closer to SkullCon we'll see people on the forum posting offers to lend/rent their extra skulls?

There's no way I can go to SkullCon myself even if I had the blasted thing. But I'd really love to send my friend to it. Buying one outright is definitely out of my price range - I understand just how valuable the item is and why people wouldn't want to risk lending. But does anyone think we might gradually see more posts about it? Maybe offering a lend in exchange for some sort of collateral?

I suppose part of the appeal of SkullCon would be the exclusivity, though I'm inclined to feel it's the more, the merrier. Just seems a shame for all those extra skulls people worked for to go to waste. Maybe I'm just living in a dream world in my heart, lol!

I'd bet that almost everyone that attends that has extra Skulls will loan/rent/sell/give the badges for them, as it's a simple matter of coordinating meeting the person at registration one time to show the skulls to get the badges. It's trickier for people with skulls who aren't attending, because they'd have to somehow physically transfer the skulls to the person attending.

I think most people don't want them to go to waste, but a LOT of people will want to play twice.

There has already been one auction for Skull use. The winning bid was $145. Like others have said, there will probably be others offered for rent as we get closer to the event.

the real question is how many have more than 2...they are more likely to rent them

I'm sure my friend would be happy to show up with no skull in hand, she would just need a solid guarantee that she wouldn't be left hanging at an event she can't attend with hefty travel expenses in tow. If you know anyone feel free to HMU, though I am still assuming I would need to build some more street cred here.

I guess I don't have a concept of how many people truly have extras and how many. My first virtual game we had one (and possibly two players? idr) who had a whopping ten skulls. So maybe I have a skewed assumption, lol.

Maybe if I get lucky on treasure I can get something worth trading for the use of a Skull. But sadly I won't get a chance to use any Pirate Treasure Maps until after SkullCon. Pax 2022 is my only chance unless I make it day one of Pax 2023 right before the maps expire.
