TOPIC: What are your thoughts on how to let folks contact each other on td.events?

How difficult would it be to automatically create a truedungeon.com forum thread for each run here and drop a link to that thread on TD.events. It would really just be a formalization of the system we kind of already have, and this forum is already moderated.

I like the thought of the freeform box. Not everyone uses the forum or wants to, so people that don't can drop other contact info. A link to the forums does no good if people don't check it.

Option 3 allows the person to put in the information from 1 or 2 if they want, so seems like the most flexible solution to me.

Option 3. It provides more flexibility and doesn't limit people who might have concerns with either the forum or providing their email address.

So it looks like the freeform box only is the preferred choice. I thought having it per slot instead of per user would be a pain for folks that bought multiple tickets but I think a combination of the two would work. So here is the current plan (which probably will be implemented tonight):

Add a freeform textarea and a checkbox to both the account page and per slot page. The textarea would not allow html but would autolink urls. The checkbox would control if non-ticket buyers of the slot can see the message and would default to off (unchecked). When a user has filled in textarea and another user can see it the slot page would show something like this:

Player Notes

(bolded td.events username)
(account page textarea (value if present))
(slot page textarea value (if present))

(bolded td.events username)
(account page textarea (value if present))
(slot page textarea value (if present))

Sound good?

It looks like I won't be able to get this done before the 4a/4b tickets go on sale but it should be available soon on the site.

Unrelated small piece of feedback, if it's not too far out of your way: I wish that on e.g. td.events/conventions/vtd3b/slots the Character Choices section was listed *above* Tickets Transferred To You, rather than being sandwiched in between transferred tickets and purchased tickets.

Agree with this suggestion, but I'd take it a step further and merge some of the sections. Like merge the section for zoom links and class selections. And maybe the transfers to/from you could be merged in a clean way as well.

Then again, my page for a given "convention" is probably a lot more insane than what many people see.
