Playing as many games of whatever as possible. I try ones I have never played, and play several that I have played a lot.

Seeing people I only see at Gen Con is cool too (that’s the only con I normally go to) like you TD peeps!

Hanging out with friends I only see a couple times a year, whether they be TD friends or other con friends.
Second would be playing games with those friends (often Are you a Werewolf but anything is possible).
You either discover a star or you don't. You arrogant punk.

Top two hits last year were the National Security Decisionmaking Game at Origins and the Den of Wolves megagame at Gencon (loosely based on Battlestar Galactica).

Indie RPG room is also usually a great choice.

Gen con top 3

1) hang out with friends at the ram between events.

2) X-Wing attack the Death Star event. Fantastic event every year

3) battletech / alpha strike. I don’t often play outside of gen con, so I try to attend an event every year.

I would love to be able to play some Heroscape at GenCon. But the event times make it impossible to volunteer and to play Heroscape. TD wins that one.

So, I'm going with sleep.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Play all of the newly developed games with the people that created them. I learn by doing, and to play a newly developed game with the person that created it is very rewarding. Many developers have free sitdowns where you can play a few rounds of their games and learn the basics. I love that. It is really the only time that I will purchase a new game. If a developer clearly demonstrates their vision first hand I am 99.9% sold on it.

I love the vendor hall and can spend hours at a time wandering without ever feeling like I've made a proper dent in it.

Is Heroscape a big thing still? I thought once they stopped manufacturing it, that it might fade away. We enjoyed it for awhile, I still have a lot of them. :)

A big thing, no. Still a thing, yes.

Hasbro killed it off with some very poor marketing decisions.

Still played at GenCon and elsewhere. And some really devoted folk are creating some pretty cool custom units using figures from other games. Heroscapers.com is where you connect.

The challenge in playing in the championship event at GenCon is the remaining player base is, for the most part, the best of the best.

I still have my collection and a ridiculous quantity of terrain. Can’t quite bring myself to sell it.
