per the WYC organizers :

Well, to the surprise of probably no one, we have to make the unfortunate announcement that WHO'S YER CON 2020 will not happen as planned this year.

We are all dealing with an unprecedented public health emergency, and the only option we had was to cancel the event.
Real talk: as a non-profit organization, we are likely to take a hit on this, but trust that we ARE working on a variety of other "Con-like" options (to be held later in the year) and alternative ways to support our Sponsors and Vendors and Members and Attendees.
We just don't have all of those specifics ironed out just yet.

Please be patient as we look for creative ways to continue to support and provide free and low cost hobby gaming in Indiana. We'll provide further details and a literal "game plan" here in the very near future; but, until then, please stay safe and healthy and follow all of the guidelines put forth by your state and local officials.

We're gamers. We've fought the big boss. We've vanquished the foes. We've slayed the dragon.
And we will again.

-The 2020 Who's Yer Gamers Board of Directors and Who's Yer Con Staff

Sunday, March 15, 2020

Greetings from TD HQ. As Druegar stated, this is the spot to check for official updates regarding COVID19 and how it relates to True Dungeon.

At this time, we have no cancellations for shows that True Adventures is running events. We were planning on doing token transmutes at Who's Yer Con, but they have postponed their show for now. As always, you can mail token transmutes in and we will process them and send them back via USPS.

The team attends Transworld to see props/costumes/effects and such, in St. Louis. The trade show has been postponed for now.

Thankfully, the TD Team has been working diligently on the new modules. S1 and S2 are complete/close to complete. Preparations on finishing S2 and S3 are underway. We are proceeding under the assumption that we will be attending each show until we hear otherwise.

Our focus is on the health and wellbeing of our staff and community. We hope all of you maintain your health and wellness. Be smart, be safe, and we hope to see you soon!

Executive Director's Log - (work with me people, I'm trying to talk the talk")

Tuesday finds the home base of Carbondale with sunshine finally showing its face. As the Executive Directors are under self quarantine with their teenage children - voluntarily, as oldest teen flew on an aircraft from Boston, a heavily hit CV location - the sunshine is a nice change from the dreary days of late. This sudden (and quickly passing, according to weather reports) improvement in weather can only mean one thing - forced family yard work, as fresh air and manual labor will SURELY improve the moods of all in the house. [Side note - it's possible that I have gone mad, as never before would I have dared entertained such ridiculous thoughts]

Work at TD HQ continues as planned. Full time employees have been given the option of working in the office, workshop, or at home. We have a bit of each. Everyone is doing what they can from the location that best suits them and their household considerations. It's possible all are enjoying the "Executive Director Free" time they have been given....almost as this virus is a gift from the sanity gods themselves.

The Evil Executive Director is looking at ways to decrease monthly expenses while the Good Executive Director plans for the shows to go on and is keeping the workshop humming with build plans and new puzzle ideas. Thankfully both ED's stocked the office up with adequate amounts of toilet paper, so nobody will be forced to make difficult decisions at this time.

*****
Ok, that's about all the creativity I have in me right now! The gist is, we are all working and planning as if the shows will go on. Thankfully we have full time employees who are able to work independently and/or in small groups, we can meet online to discuss things, and everyone is cooperating and working together. We are working on some "what-if" scenarios, but right now we are focusing on future shows and being ready for those once we hear.

I will say this again - NO SHOWS that True Adventures are planning on running a True Dungeon event(s) at have cancelled or postponed AT THIS TIME. It is correct that Who's Yer Con has cancelled/postponed, but we were NOT running a TD adventure/event - we were there for recruitment and token transmuting. You can still send your token transmutes in via USPS.

Our main focus right now is to keep our full-time employees working (with flexible work options) and keep planning for future shows. Should we be notified that a show is NOT happening as scheduled, we will handle that situation and then continue preparations for the next show on the calendar.

The S-series modules are too good to be kept secret forever! We will keep planning, perfecting, and building so that as soon as we can, we will share the hard work that's been done with you, our awesome TD community. We hope that you and yours are staying healthy, taking smart measures to keep yourselves safe, and above all, keeping a good outlook in the face of this uncertain time. Don't take unnecessary risks and keep yourself and those around you safe.

Until we "talk" again....

COVID-19 Update Info Center for TD Happenings 4 years 1 month ago #5

Thursday, March 19, 2020

Greetings and well wishes from TD HQ! Here's the update for today.

MomoCon Update - The organizers of MomoCon posted an update today. While I have not heard from them directly, I can only pass on the information they posted in their update .

On behalf of the entire MomoCon family, our hearts go out to every person and family affected by these challenging global times.

MomoCon organizers are currently exploring new dates for the MomoCon 2020 experience and we will continue to work around the clock with the Georgia World Congress Center, our hotel partners, and government officials to bring our fans an update as soon as possible.

In the event you are unable to attend during the later dates, we will also be providing options for existing memberships. As soon as we have our new plans for 2020 in place, you—the valued members of our community—will be among the first to know.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work toward finding the best solution for MomoCon 2020.

We have also been updated that Origins is making the "go/no-go" decision by May 1. Like all of you, we hope things have calmed down and our summer conventions can happen. As soon as we receive definitive information from shows we will let you know.

As in other updates from us, the TD HQ team continues to work on projects. We now have confirmed positive cases in our area, so we are making some plans the remainder of this week to have items ready for "work-at-home" projects. Our main concern is the health and safety of our employees and their families. We encourage everyone to wash hands, practice social distancing, and above all, stay safe.

Hi Folks,

These are strange times. We're all treading into uncertain territory and the unknown can be disturbing. I would ask that we all take a moment to think about the words we post before we post them. If someone says somthing you don't agree with, please try to reign-in your emotions and don't add fuel to the fire. If you feel a post is fear-mongering, you don't have to respond to it. I know this isn't how the internet typically works, but I think we are better than that.

Those who are unable to exhibit proper restraint may find themselves under a temporary ban. Repeated infractions will result in a permanent ban.

Thank you for your willingness to make this a pleasant place for all TD fans to congregate and build our awesome community.

COVID-19 Update Info Center for TD Happenings 4 years 4 weeks ago #7

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

Last week, Illinois Governor Pritzker ordered a "shelter-at-home" for Illinois residents and that all "non-essential" businesses close. I know y'all will find it hard to believe, but TD is considered "non-essential".

I'll give you a moment to get over your shock.

Jeff is working at the office and workshop, collecting the mail and processing any token orders/transmutes. He's also tinkering about the workshop and building stuff that will apparently help complete the final module for 2020, S3. None of the rest of us are there, so we really have no idea what's happening. BUT, you heard it here first, so if the puzzles in S3 are completely awesome, you have Jeff to thank (I'll just leave it at that).

Regarding future shows...right now I am staying in contact with MomoCon as they try to iron out details on the ability to reschedule. It's my personal opinion that they will not be able to hold the show as originally scheduled, but until they make a final decision, I cannot speak for them...only my opinion. Once we hear a final word from them, we will then spring into action to adjust our plans accordingly. I will send out an email to all MomoCon volunteers this week to update them.

Origins has indicated they will make their "go/no go" decision by May 1. We will not put tickets on sale until we have that decision, as we don't want to sell tickets and then turn around and process refunds. I think each week gives us more information and facts that help everyone make better decisions.

I would encourage each of you to make decisions that are best for you and your loved ones. Get your information from reputable sources (CDC and WHO) and make sure you think through the "what will I do if I get sick" scenario. Your physician may be able to offer guidance as to the procedures your city/town/county are following.

I'm sorry that I don't have much information for you, but please know that we are all in this together and above all, the health of our families, team, and community are our top priority. I will pass on more information regarding future shows when I have it.

Take care of yourselves. Be safe and stay healthy!

COVID-19 Update Info Center for TD Happenings 4 years 3 weeks ago #8

Wednesday, April 1, 2020

I wish this was an April Fool's post, but unfortunately it's not. It's been almost a week since I last updated. Unfortunately I have very little in the way of an update to provide. We are still waiting to hear a rescheduled date for MomoCon. Origins is still saying May 1 is when they'll make their call.

I am happy to report that, as far as I know, all of the TD Team and their household members are well. So, we have that going for us! The Illinois Governor extended our Shelter-in-Place until 4/30, so again, as a non-essential business we are technically closed, but Jeff is going in daily to check the mail, make sure the sewer isn't backing up, etc. He is usually there several hours, as I think he's enjoying tinkering around and building stuff.

The TD team did some gaming via Zoom on Sunday. We are tossing around the idea of sharing the sessions with the TD community. I will let you know when/if/what we figure out. I will say that we had a fun time trying to explain to Mike how to diffuse a bomb, and then we all played Jackbox, which seemed like it might lend itself to a fun "spectator" game for the TD community.

Wherever you are, please take extra precautions (no licking tray tables or other sketchy surfaces) and keep yourself safe and healthy. In having known a few people with "mild" cases, I'd say even mild isn't too attractive to me, so stay healthy!
