Awesome!! What year was the ticket from? And on the ticket it mentions that there would be an award for the best team during the run. Do you remember what that award was? Just curious.

That was from 2006. To give an idea of how token purchases have changed, back in 2006 you got a Golden Ticket for every $250 in tokens you purchased. :)

I never found out what the award was, we didn't stick around until 10 PM. Maybe we were the award winners and our award is still sitting somewhere for us to claim. ;)

There was one team which made it out of the dungeon completely (or almost completely) intact, IIRC. (Many teams made it out with several missing members, as the final puzzle obliterated you on a wrong answer.) All of the survivors of the "best" team got a special woodie token. I'm trying to remember if it was the Drow Spider Venom token (I think it was) or the Saviour Stone.

Alas, I was not on the winning team :(

Hey! I had one of those back in the day.

We had a group of four players, and we all went in on a token order.
This got us one of the Golden Tickets similar to the one pictured above.

I did a color photocopy of it (as a memento), and then we traded it away to Widseth.
I think we may have traded it for about $40--or maybe $20 and a +2 cloak. :)

Ah... Old Times. :)

I think I got three from my token orders, and I sold two of them, but then I had to buy a different one from someone else when Jason decided to join me. I've still got my Dungeon Module from that token purchase, it was the first Dungeon module, and was limited to no more than 25 copies. :)

On another note, my party's Rogue (WaterSomePlants on the forums) won a Golden Ticket in an essay contest that TD did.
The theme was "What I Would Do With One Million Treasure Tokens!".

He went on the GT adventure that Wed night, and then kept his mouth shut during the run with our group. :)
He seems to remember that he got a few snacks during the GT run and a Purple Volunteer token that was a one-shot resurrection (must have been the Savior Stone).

Anyway, here is his winning essay (with his permission).

Enjoy!

The wooden watchtowers were eerily quiet that evening, as the troops made their final preparations for the inevitable battle that would come with the morning’s light. Soldiers in the town square dumped another cartload of Gear: Small Steel Mirror and Armor: Leather (+2 AC) onto the ranging bonfire, as the townsfolk huddled close by for warmth. Along the parapet, the men practiced their martial forms in the cold night air, honing their shuffleboard skills, and wishing that Gear: Wool Blanket might have been released a year sooner. By daybreak, it wouldn’t matter.

So much rested in the hands of those seven (or sometimes eight) adventurers. Those seven simple, inept adventurers. Commander Keldnor secretly doubted that the Rogue could even read. And the lanky teenager calling himself a Wizard seemed disturbingly lacking in the most basic of spatial memory skills. Sighing, Keldnor finished applying another coat of Thompson’s Water Seal to his scale mail armor, hundreds of tokens carefully knitted together with a clever application of fraying a 50’ Rope. Keldnor knew the town’s defenses wouldn’t hold against Iuz’s forces; after all, the walls were little over an inch thick, and the hasty construction meant that many of the tall stacks were precariously balanced. Besides, it wasn’t like Burning Hands were rare or anything…

Minutes later an alarm sounded, and Keldnor left the cheerful glow of the Tavern, the loud mass of patrons bizarrely unconcerned about the sinister dangers that threatened to engulf them all. By now, Keldnor’s training regimen was short and efficient, his speech automatic after dozens of verbatim repetitions. As long as Martin’s fiendish dungeon kept brutally massacring adventures, he would keep sending the eager volunteers into the very mouth of the beast. If nothing else, he told himself, the odds were in the favor of at least one of the three hundred ninety parties succeeding.

Ooooo!
I've been trying to collect all the modules when I can get my hands on them.

So far, I've gotten from 2009 to the present.
I'm missing TD7 from 2008, and any previous modules.

Would you be willing to scan the earlier modules that you have--or take pictures of the pages--and send it to me?

Hi Steven,

I'm not sure what box it is in, but if I come across it I can take a picture of the cover and send it in to you. They aren't staple bound like the more recent ones, they're more "hand made". I think I managed to pick up a couple of extras over the years, I've always been on the lookout for those early modules. :)

Thanks,
Mike
