Just speaking for myself, the ability to use premium classes was my least favorite part of the Rod, behind the stat bonuses and the slotless Eldritch bonuses (except for when the Bard could get a missing treasure stamp - then the premium classes was awesome!).

I could be wrong, but I don't think it was ever said that there wouldn't be other ways to get access to premium classes.

As I say every time this gets brought up:

There is a way to get access to the RoSP classes. The fact that some people don't prefer to get access using that way does not mean that creating an alternative way should be on the table.

I do not think we convey the benefits of a token onto people who haven't equipped that token (unless that's part of the function of the token like Flask of Sharing).

Although I'd be OK with a 1/6 shot at being able to play a prestige class could be an occasional X of Wonder effect - as that token has precedent of granting other token effects as part of its effect.

A new badge holder could be one part. 8th level says “Elite.” 10th could say “Epic.”

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Ugh... no. I don't use a Badge Holder because the things are too uncomfortable around my neck. And I'd like to think 15+years of devotion to TD gets someone something better than a Badge Holder.

With less than 200 in circulation, at some point it will not be possible to acquire a Ro7P - the owners will either not be wiling to part with them, or they will become unavailable (ex: thrown out when the owner dies).

That said, there is no reason it can't be on a level 10 token -
"Prestigious Token". Slotless. Owner may play any prestige class.

Now, you might say that this is already on a token, but really we have tons of precedent of different tokens conferring the same effect. Just look at the number of +str items out there.

Maybe, but only if you already own
A Rod7.

I wouldn't recommend a 10th Level benefit that was dependent on having anything else required to activate it.

I like this idea, but I would limit it to once per year same as the rods. Basically show up at checkin, claim a class voucher, use as you would any other voucher.

That seems reasonable. You could get one voucher per year for a subclass from a Ro7P and one voucher per year for being 10th Level. Someone with a Rod and that is 10th Level would get two vouchers per year.

I wasn’t suggesting it would be the only thing, just one of the things.

If we went with my idea of an RFI chip on a token or medallion, maybe one year it would unlock prestige classes, and another year have something different.

Ok so you can play the Alternative
