It's 1400 rooms. And won't be done until 2022. It helps, but demand will still outstrip supply.

And all those rooms won't be available to the Gen Con block. It will help but still won't be enough. I also expect the max number of badges to go up since the convention space will expand....but will shall see.

The additional space wouldn't be online until 2022, so I don't think the number will change much for the time being.

They make it sound like it was as big as 2017, but I don't know.

While this is the only connected hotel that has been proposed there are already over a thousand hotel rooms either under construction or announced within about 5 blocks of the convention center which should all open within the next few years.

Here is a quick list of what I could find...

The Hyatt Place/Hyatt House across the street from Bankers Life Fieldhouse is supposed to be done by next summer and that has 316 rooms.

146 room TownePlace Suites over by Lucas Oil.

180 room Intercontinental by the City Market has been announced and supposed to start construction this year.

128 room Aloft also over by the Market.

130 room Kimpton Hotel about a block from the City Centre Mall opening in 2020.

197 room Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites which I think just started construction this summer.

Personally I want to see a new parking garage, although I suspect the lots between the convention center and Lucas Oil are being saved for expansion of the convention center, so it would likely end up next to Lucas Oil.

Anyone know what is going on with the Postal Sorting Facility next to Lucas Oil?

I'm already booked at the relatively new Home2Suites east of the circle.

No idea on the Postal Center. Most newer ones are being located closer to airports rather than in downtowns. I'm sure Indy would love to have that prime bit of land back on the tax rolls.
