Yes, and I would say that GURPS is a better system for one shots where the player base isn't 100% familiar with the game system. That and pre generating characters in GURPS isn't as much work on the DM.

When I was young mom introduced me to the old school Red Box, and from there AD&D followed. So definitely down for this.

Sounds good Rob F!

I always liked the fact that GURPS characters are all pretty equivalent, based on a certain number of points and a system of allocating those points, instead of randomly generating them in D&D with great variations in character power. And I like that they increase in abilities more gradually, and you have more control in how they grow.

Sounds like a potential DM volunteer!

We'll keep this post going between now and then, figure out the interest level, and formalize the plan when we get closer.

I'm just imagining a D&D session at TDC, and about halfway through one of the players realizes "Wait! Isn't this the TD module from 2011?"

That is WAAAAYYY before my time (my first TD and Gen Con was 2016), so I'd never know.

I picked up my last run of 4:36 on saturday so done sometime around 7 that night. I don't think that makes it easy to DM a 1 shot but I could do a certified 3-4 Hour 5th Edition Adventure League slot but I also may not have a voice at that time of the event.

I thought a 5e AL one shot might be best.

I think between now and April we see how the interest is, and if we do it we say it starts around 7pm or shortly thereafter, meaning instead of doing the Trivia Contest, a group of people could do a D&D table...or 2...or who knows how many!

I got trivia tickets as a backup, but D&D Saturday night sounds awesome to me and my pal Deron! :)

I was thinking of bringing a classic 1st ed module, maybe running during true horde timeslot, but waiting to see how runs shake out.
