Hello True Dungeon-eers!

I'm Anthony and my group of 4 will be at Gen Con this year for the first time in over a decade, and with a healthy bit of luck we managed to all get into the TDA17117818 Moongate Maze (combat) - Fri 11:12 PM run! :D

I'm told it can make a huge difference to coordinate with your group ahead of time.

About Us:

Group of first timers.
Most of have never even played D&D before.
We'll want to be able to have fun and learn, but not min max or speed through things.

I bought us 4x booster packs so we can have a few extra items to choose from to help compensate for being new, hopefully not enough to ruin our first experience but also give us some leeway so we don't feel forced or limited by whatever our complimentary packs turn out to be.

Are there any particular or important suggestions for us? Can multiple people play the same class?

Welcome! I'm not in your group, but to answer your questions...

#1 suggestion: arrive early if at all possible. Check in at the desk to get your tokens and wristband. Then you can enter the coaching room, up to 30 minutes early. It will have a sign matching your time... ":12". Arriving early will give you time to choose classes and organize your tokens.

No. There are 12 classes, and the 10 party members must each choose a different one. So I wouldn't get tied to any specific class now. It is good to have some flexibility.

Hope you have a great time :)
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

Welcome Anthony and friends!

I am playing with your group. there are three of us, myself, my niece and her boyfriend.

I've played every year since 2005 and had a blast. So much so that now I volunteer for True Dungeon.

If you have any more questions about True Dungeon just ask.

There are 12 classes and 10 players so each player has different powers (with some overlap ie dwarf fighter and fighter, elf wizard and wizard).

If you go to the top of the web page you will see the heading of RESOURCES. There you find the "player cards" for each of the classes. Most players are level 4 unless you have special tokens to get 5th level characters. At the bottom of the page is the "player mat". This mat is in the coaches room and it helps players organize their tokens for their characters.

The character classes are first come first serve for the most part. Many experienced players have "builds" (group of specific tokens) for their favorite character class. Mine being the Druid, my niece being the Bard and her boyfriend the Ranger. We also have a LARP scheduled until 11pm so we know these class may already be taken by the time we arrive.

Looking forward to playing with you and your friends.
