TOPIC: Thank you to everyone

Thank you to everyone 3 years 1 month ago #1

I always thank everyone for coming, but this year I added a personal thank you to every group that came through my room. Sharing it here for everyone I didn't see.

Things are very hard for me right now, and they show all signs of getting worse, not better. My happy places and coping mechanisms are few, far between, and getting fewer. The main one left is getting to come to Gencon and playing with people at TD, and seeing all the people I've come to know there.

So a heartfelt thank you to everyone that continues to make this possible. You cannot fathom how meaningful it is to me.

So, unless I end up homeless or dead, until next year.

It was (as always) great to see you Shaman!

I get that things often suck and with the way the world is going, a lot more people are being hit with the shitty end of the stick. I wish it wasn't that way, but it feels like it's not likely to change anytime soon :(

Still, it's good to go to GenCon and be among friends, and see those people who make it worth getting through the next year.. and the next...

So, I look forward to seeing you again in 2018!

We've had only a few interactions over the years, and because of health and other issues, I am unable to attend GenCon any longer, but you've always been a positive memory to me of some of the excellent people I have met at GenCon especially at TD and on the forum. I miss being there in person, but I always remember the joys of solving puzzles, outwitting critters, and sharing the company of adventurers through Jeff's amazing creations.

We solve hard puzzles, defeat hard monsters, and develop strong relationships in the dungeon--not so different from life. May your happy places enlarge and may your coping skills become refined as hard things test you. The hottest fires transform mere iron into the finest steel and magical swords. Things are rough out there and things going on in the world and our society are horrible and likely to get worse, but we have friendship. The hard things of the world will be the coal to eliminate the dross and strengthen friendships like high grade steel. PM me any time you need to talk. I would always be happy to chat with you.

Thanks for being you.
