TOPIC: Events Already Sold Out?

Events Already Sold Out? 6 years 11 months ago #1

Looking forward to going back to Gen Con after an 11 year hiatus. We did TD back then and loved it.

I read that event tickets go on sale May 28th, but saw some posts here about people already booking runs.\

Did I miss the boat and this is already sold out?

If so, any chance for a waiting list in case people cancel?

Thanks!

Jared there are 825 runs still available (38 True Grind, 398 Dancing and 389 Moongate)

Earlier in the year there was a limited drawing, based on token purchases, for an opportunity to pre-purchase a run. This was only a handful of runs. These are the runs that people are talking about.

More details on the limited drawing can be found under the How to Play tab. I have also put a copy of the text below

"Gen Con Ticket Draw

On March 20th, 2017, we will hold a special drawing from the names of all the 2017 token buyers to date. Ten lucky token buyers will win. Each winner can "pre-buy" up to 10 tickets (from one slot) before anyone else! Winners will be contacted on March. 20th and have until March 25th to pick their event slot (and pay for the tickets). If we do not hear back from a winner by March 25th, then another name will be drawn. True Dungeon event tickets go on sale for everyone in May. For every 10-pack you buy, we put your name in the virtual hat. Winners are guaranteed to get the exact slot they want without having to worry about the crazy time during event registration. You still have to buy the tickets at the normal price."

People are also making plans to join player groups with the goal of filling out runs. Example i have a group of 7 and would like to find 3 more to fill out the run and make easier for class selection. In the end aside from the lottery we're all at the mercy of registration on Sunday to figure out what tickets we actually get.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I notice there are 15 runs missing, and the drawing only accounts for 10 of those. I'm guessing Jeff may have held the other five runs back for VIP runs. :)

Missing as in event 'gaps' in the catalog Mike? Vip runs wouldn't surprise me but could just as well be the bubble or even VIG runs. Think a prize was offered back do to some sort of run with Patrick Rothfuss as something for World Builders or an ebay charity auction.

Are you looking at the runs people have booked at Origins in June?

There's a chance that the posts you saw were about people booking runs for Origins, which is also coming up. Those tickets have already gone on sale, and people are putting their teams together.

Otherwise - like people have already stated - it's just the lucky lottery winners who have their slots, and everyone else is crossing their fingers and putting teams together in the hopes of scoring a full slot on Event Registration day.

I was just going from these numbers:

"Jared there are 825 runs still available (38 True Grind, 398 Dancing and 389 Moongate)"

I think there were 400 each Dancing and Moongate, and maybe 40 True Grind?

You're probably right that some of the five runs were World Builders. :)

Interesting because I just noticed that my lotto run *is* listed on the GenCon site as fully available. I just emailed Jeff :)

It's entirely possible. I was breezing through the various posts and saw runs being booked so got nervous. Looks like we didnt miss the date and will be looking forward to booking some runs soon!
