Hell the rate we are going, we took away treasure stamps. Let's take away puzzle damage. Then combat damage. Then take away weapons and armor.

With the chain puzzle at the end if you failed the dm said "At the last minute you managed to get a connection to the fae unfortunately it takes you through a hostile plane and you all take damage" and there was even a video of fire in the middle of the table. Made sense to me.
Not much that can't be fixed with a big stick.

I definitely don't see any reason to do away with HP damage in puzzle rooms. That's what healers are for. It makes you plan a little bit more before venturing to the next room... do I heal now or can it wait?

I don't see it as combat damage vs puzzle damage. It's just... damage.

But maybe there should be tokens that reduce puzzle damage, like there are to reduce trap, melee, and ranged damage. I don't see any in the TokenDB.

It halves puzzle failure damage... not push damage though.

Chris Von Wahlde wrote: Yeah... the chain reaction (no pun intended) damage could be harsh. I still don't feel the puzzle was worse than any other. As I stated earlier my success rate on Friday was pretty high with the majority only taking damage once. There were the rare instances of what you speak of, and one almost TPK... 3 survivors (barely)... but all in all not that bad.

Our party only took damage once, but couldn't make a connection for the life of us. I don't think we had more than two complete links on the table at any point in the 12 minutes. It was so bad, I wouldn't have been surprised if they just escorted us out of the dungeon on sheer principle.

I really like the fact that there are few tokens that help with puzzle damage (other than general healing tokens for the aftermath of course). It kind of helps even out the token-rich vs token-poor groups. Groups with a zillion tokens have a HUGE advantage in combat rooms, but not so much in puzzle rooms. I hope it stays that way. I was one of the people that was advocating against Ray's Ring for just that reason. I hope it's not the first crack in the levee.

I actually agree with this. I'm ok having a couple (or just one), but don't feel it should be overdone.

+1

While we're at it, let's get trophies and medals for participating only. Damn if we win or lose.
