Has everyone read the latest True Dungeon Newsletter ?

It looks like the treasure draws will be done with an 18" long stick, with a magnet on the end.

No more slivers from wooden boxes!
No chance for "feeling" the token backs!
No palming extra tokens!
And you can still stir up the box before drawing, using the stick!

Sounds like a fantastic solution to me.

Thanks Jeff (and anyone else who came up with this brilliant plan) !

I'm eager to give that a shot. I'm especially curious to see:
  • How this will affect the speed of the lines
  • How often (if ever) it will snag more than one token at a time
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .

Yeah, I wonder about those two exact things as well. I think it is a great idea and needed, but I still wonder.

Also I like the addition of the chest 'cap' making it more difficult for anyone to peer into the chest.

It seems more practical to load than the "gumball machine" tubes.

Guess we won't be finding woodies in the loot boxes... Sorry, Mr Steele.

Not every token has a slug. There are a few misprints out there (I have a light MoH.) I just mention it as a thing; not as something to worry about.

Mm, good points Druegar.

I am sure it's been tested to see how often it draws more than one token... maybe Jeff will comment on that. There would have to be some policy in place, though (Re-draw? Shake until one falls off? Have the volunteer watching the draws physically remove one? Let people keep both? - Don't like either of those last 2 options)

Also, if you get people who routinely draw 10+ treasure tokens, would they just keep the "extra" token(s) and add them to their total count? (i.e. don't worry if they pull multiples, just make sure the final tally matches their total draws)

As for line speed... yeah... if this takes longer than normal draws, I wonder whether there will be more lines/treasure generators available, or whether there might be some specific times when people were allowed to come do multiple draws at once. Otherwise a full team of adventurers equipped with Charms of Avarice would bog down the treasure lines every time.

EDIT: I'm not bringing these up as reasons against - just points which may need to be considered to make this new plan work as smoothly as possible. I think it's got great potential : )

Seems very fun, but I too worry about the speed of the lines. I already have 47 that I need to pull. Grabbing a handful of tokens won't be possible anymore.
Classes Played: Barbarian (65 times), Monk (56), Ranger (33), Rogue (25), Cleric (21), Fighter (13), Druid (12), Paladin (11), Dwarf Fighter (10), Bard (7), Elf Wizard (2), Wizard (2)

Maybe there will be additional chests?

There will be additional chests, and we will have special zip-tie sealed bags of 10 tokens that the big redeemers can quickly grab 10 tokens. These bags will be filled at TD HQ from the same exact stock of tokens in the chests and sealed with small zip ties. Taking the bags will be optional, as I know some folks are somewhat irrational about randomness and "luck".

New practice seems interesting, need to see how it goes in real world use/practice. Kinda want that stick though just as a way to pickup dropped tokens in the dungeon though.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

I like the pre-filled bag idea a lot. Pull 3 to 7 with the wand and get a bag of 10 if you have CoA's and such.

Well I like the prefilled bags idea better than the token wands. Just based on the current market for treasure draws I agree something needs to be done to safeguard the randomness of the draws but the wands just fraught with complications and somewhat viscerally off putting.

Its times like these that I don't envy Jeff and Co.

Instead of bags, it seems like having 10-packs wrapped in opaque plastic would be handier. But that's probably a factory-thing.

And actually, I don't think 10 is the optimum number. Anyone drawing that many is almost certainly drawing more. I'd do 13-packs, or maybe twelve out of respect to the triskadecaiphobes amongst us.
