So they claim, so they claim...

Seriously, that is quite possibly the worst branding decision of all time.
D&D teaches all the important lessons in life - the low blow, the cheap shot, the back stab, the double cross. - Jerry Marsischky

Let them trap us. We have our swords. - Elric of Melnibone.

You try to get them to play the game, but all they want to do is play the rules. - Ardak Kumerian

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend - Faramir

Soya + Lentils = Soylent
...makes perfect sense, mystery solved. Pls ignore the proposed lawsuit about the labeling not listing everything inside..

Yes, I know about its origin in a Harry Harrison story. But most people will only know about Soylent Green.

Gratz! Be sure to confirm your schedule from the link.

You'll be added to the appropriate groups. Give it a few days after you confirm. Probably not much will happen there for awhile anyway.

I'd suggest reading the Coaching Guide if you haven't already, but there's no rush. The sooner you do it, the more time you have to forget what it says :) But you ca always read it a few times. It's short.

You'll get more detailed instructions, like if and/or when to take the test, as time goes on. Sometimes that doesn't happen for a month or two.

Taking the coaching test is a smart thing to do. If you miss a question, they don't kill you. Reading over the resources is easy and fun, and helps you in all facets of the game. Of all the jobs I've done, coaching assistant was the most fun. Here's highlights from my cheat sheet:

1. Room stocked: Lanyards, lights, char cards, clips, mats on basic
2. Table clear, chairs neat so you can get around them
3. Check wristbands, 10 players, pick classes, fetch 5th-lvl if needed
4. Lanyards/lights/clips on everybody? Know how to use
5. Difficulty level, time, date on party card
6. Help token sorting
7. ASK: Any problems w/strobes, crawling, tight spaces?
8. LAST CHANCE for restroom! No photos/lights/phones. Age 12+ (if not, fetch trng coord)
9. Happy - communicate fun - you're TD's first impression on most!
10. REMEMBER: You maybe only assist- move back/forth to other trng rooms
11. Escort/assist groups to training room
12. 'Have a nice time storming the castle!'

You'll be absolutely amazed at how fast the time goes by. Introduce yourself to your coach coordinator and coach - they need you and will be very helpful.
You still got hit points! Get back in there and fight!!

Wise words, spent 1.5 cons (promoted to training room mid con) as an assistant before flighting up a step. You are constantly in motion while listening for when a coach asks for something. You are 1st impression and extra sinew to help the onboarding process go smoothly. A good assistant works ahead so when ineveitably something pops up you don't risk falling behind in duties. A lot of fun goes into being an assistant while not quite worrying about the math of regular coach.

I would read coaching guide, familiarity with current tokens not a bad thing. Not common but don't be surprised if you're called upon to answer random questions from players as they float in before the coach comes in. Help out be keep an eye on your main tasks always.
We're all the kind of people who enjoy the game on a "meta" level. We like talking about the game year-round. We buy tokens. We enjoy crafting. We get together during the off-season if we can. We are a very skewed demographic that way. -Raven

So you know, the Coach's Guild will be updated Soon TM . I'm just waiting on a certain puzzle piece to be placed before releasing it.
Have you looked it up in the TDb ?
Please post TDb corrections in this thread .
