1. What is the size of the paper? 8.5 x 17?
2. Would TD accept a party card that is printed?

As for the bonuses - I would still have a party card filled out, it just makes the coaches life easier.

Cheers,
Ed

MasterEd set exactly that up at GenCon but I'm not sure how much it was used.

I made use of it after a buddy bought some new tokens on thursday. It was very helpful and easy to use :)

Legal (8½" x 14")

If it came from one of the officially recognized generators and was accompanied by an equipment list, yes.

I tried it several times but it kept asking me to pay $12.95 for internet. I would have loved that option since I run with a group of 6 other folks.

As a coach, I always try to talk about web based and app character creators. Although internet was spotty, I had one player who couldn’t access tdcharactercreator but was able to download the app and input his character while I worked on others and received his bonus hp.

I know at pax south last year my sprint signal was junk.

As for insensitive maybe bump it to 3 HP or possibly 1 HP and 1 AC. I do think the synergy is too strong but do think a boost would help a lot in this area.

I had a few players look at the $3 price tag and decided not to get it, all first time players. In fairness if a player looks it up in iTunes while in the coaching room I would guess they buy it 75% of the time as a guess.

Someone was talking about doing that earlier this year but may have lost interest. I was interested in the project but it was going to take a lot of work I’m sure.

Maybe have the person working check-in mention it when the wrist bands are picked up?

How much trouble would it be to add to the "Your coach will be with you shortly," dialog in the coaching room?

I also think the issue is not about incentive, it's about getting the word out. ...

Hmm. If this is the case, then how should the word get put out? Would a FAQ / Guide poster be useful? It could be placed next to the poster of this years tokens at each of the cons. Perhaps something else?

Not sure if this is possible, but maybe have links to tokendb, player’s guide and a notice about the character generators go out with ticket purchases? But that probably runs afoul of legal issues....

They say that the best weapon is the one you never have to use. I respectfully disagree. I prefer the weapon you only have to use once! Oh - and if you really need to think about whether you're going to use the fireball or the + umpty staff of butt-whooping - you're likely to find yourself full of arrows, or fangs, or nasty knives & swords and such. Don't think - just shoot!

I think there's at least three separate approaches that people on the forum have been looking at (or were looking at). Text OCR, basic image recognition, and machine learning.

I know that one of those solutions (basic image rec on a mobile app) is on hold until we think of a solution to lighting. Inside the storyscape and coaching rooms the lighting is not sufficient for good results. The light from your phone's flash is too concentrated, you need a more diffuse source (or light from multiple angles).

I have looked at a couple different technologies. IOS 12 will have some very cool machine learning tools for use either in voice recognition or image processing. You could break the problem down into 2 parts. One figure out the rarity, which will limit the number of tokens to match against. Turns a problem of 1300-1500 tokens to search through to maybe 400 or so. Unfortunately, regardless of the tech used, the best we are likely to see is 95% accurate, meaning 1 in 20 is either not identified or mis-identified. That leaves the coach having to recheck everything on each scan. Time wise, I am not sure this helps the coach.

If or when the tokens have RFID tags in them, the accuracy would go up enough to make this worth while, but all this is a long way off.

There's more than occasional issue with step two there, though- I double and triple checked to make sure the final result the app put out was correct for me, but in every run I went on my information was incorrectly copied from the app to the party card, either by forgetting bonus damage types, retribution damage, or both. It wasn't a big deal because the coaches are fine with us checking over the card ourselves, but it does seem like a bit of a waste to be precise on the app if it's not even going to be put onto the card without a reminder.
