TOPIC: 2020 $8k Auction- Fully funded!

Howdy there! Pre-order season is just about upon us, so you know what that means- auctions all day every day for the immediate future! As you might have guessed, I am also choosing to hold one with the end coinciding with the opening day or preorders! Thanks in advance to everyone who chooses to participate! Most of you know the ground rules, but here’s the basics for those who don’t:

Auction Rules:

In order for the auction to be successful, the grand total of all highest bids must meet or exceed $7500. If we end up falling just short of the goal, I may still choose to go forward.

Bidding is ebay style, meaning:
◦Bids are sent to me via PM
◦You must bid at least the current bid + the bid increment.
◦Bid increment on items less than $10: 25 cents
◦Bid increment on items greater than or equal to $10 and less than $100: $1
◦Bid increment on items greater than or equal to $100: $5
◦The winning bid amount is the lesser of the 2nd highest bid + the bid increment and the highest bid.
◦I will update the current winning bid amount and a pseudonym of the bidder periodically.
◦In the event that multiple bidders all bid the same highest amount, the earliest bid will win it.
◦You are free to bid on any number of items for which multiples are available. Your bid will always apply to the lowest priced ones.
◦Current bids are shown. Minimums (bids without a name) must be met and are not included in the current total.
◦This auction style rewards early bidding, as you win ties and people must raise the bid by at least the bid increment to take it from you.

Note:
This auction is taking place before preorders have officially begun and thus are not completely set in stone. I will be checking daily and plan to adjust items quantity and availability should they change. If that happens, I aim to be 100% transparent about any changes to listed items. Last accepted bids will be at 6:00PM EST on Monday, October 21st, however:
◦If there are technical difficulties that prevent using the TD forums or messaging systems within the last hour of the auction all open items will be extended 24 hours.
◦If a new highest bidder is found on an item within 1 hour of the initial end auction time the bidding on those item(s) will be extended an additional 24 hours, open to all bidders.

Payment is required through PayPal via friends and family- the bid amount plus shipping is the amount that must arrive in my account after fees. All winning bids will have 48 hours after the close of auction to provide payment & your choice of PYP (if applicable). Any unpaid item(s) after alloted time will defer their winning bid and the next highest bidder will be offered the item at their maximum bid price of the item(s).

Shipping on winning bids with destinations in the US:
◦$4 for 9 or fewer tokens/items
◦$8 for 10 -170 tokens(USPS small flat rate)
◦$14 for 171-1000 tokens(USPS medium flat rate)
◦$19 for 1000-1550 tokens (USPS large flat rate)
◦International shipping is at the actual cost of shipping.
◦No shipping costs if you would prefer to arrange to pick up your tokens at either 2020 Origins or 2020 Gencon.
◦Free shipping if we end up exceeding the goal and hitting $8,000 (unlikely during preorder season due to volume of simultaneous orders).

Shipping will occur within 1 week of receiving the tokens from True Dungeon, with the exception of the signed adventure modules which will ship out after they arrive.

Thank you, I made sure to include a note about it in my auction rules (as well as another link to that thread in case they miss it down here).

I think the hint may at you are assuming pricing will remain the same for the same product. It may be you are auctioning off the wrong tokens or that if pricing goes up that you will have committed to the bidders something at prices far lower than you will need to break even.

Part of my decision to not run a lightning-style auction and instead just running the one more traditional auction that goes right up until preorders start is that I have plenty of time to account for changes to final numbers before any money changes hands to make sure no commitments are being made that cannot be fulfilled.

The problem being that people may bail as bidders if you change anything. Realistically, anyone running pyp sales or auctions should assume the risk rather than pass the risk to bidders.

I do see your point, though at the same time I think I would have to see what sort of changes still remain to avoid overpromising anything. Small tweaks to numbers here and there are one thing and not too difficult to account for. On the other hand in the fairly unlikely scenario that they drastically changed anything (such as redesigning packages from the ground up as you suggested in a different thread) then I really would have to see what changes were made to evaluate how to proceed.

At the end of the day, the main thing I can promise is complete transparency in any speedbumps that do come up along the way.

Since it sounds like the main changes left were some adjusting of exact trade good quantities, I have no problems guaranteeing the auction as-is to those who have already placed their bids.
