highest per-pack bid gets to set a list of preferred Rares
then the next, etc
Equal bids are distributed randomly

I would check what Edwin said again as well. The reason the great majority of people do these auctions is the random URs. Most fall short of the 8k actually needed. When you get a condensed pack those 8-10 URs come separately and the auctioneer keeps them. That is their compensation. You are essentially auctioning these off randomly because in a non-condensed pack they will be in those packs that you are auctioning off. There are ways to tell where they are in the packs, but nothing is 100%.

I gotcha. Well if I was to do the Condensed, I'd put the 9 random URs up for auction too.

I figured either some stuff would not receive bids or would be so low-bid as to be negligible, and I would pick up those items at a discount to make up the remainder of the 8k.

(For clarification, I have placed no bids so far, and will only do so if we get close to 8k and there are some items with bids low enough to be attractive to me, and I will give everyone a chance to outbid any "bid" I end up making.)

Do the 960 packs come in “bricks” of 100 so it’s known whether a UR is in the brick?

That's a good question. I've not received an 8k, but that seems likely. Anybody know?

Although it's interesting. I've received bricks of 100 for volunteering, and those have never had an UR in them so far. But the ones in the 1/2/8k are guaranteed, so it must be something like that.

You're off by a factor of 10. The bricks you get for volunteering only have 10 ten-packs (100 tokens), and thus only a 10% chance at an UR.

Right! I knew there was a reason I wasn't bothered by the fact. So do they arrive in 10-pack bricks? Or are they boxed by 100s?

They are in 10 pack bricks mostly, and should be 96 of the bricks.
