TOPIC: Interest in another 8k Auction

Interest in another 8k Auction 5 years 4 months ago #1

Hey everybody, with Origins coming up, and watching the last few 8k Auctions, it seems like interest or involvement seems to be lessening. Since I still have some tokens I am looking to pickup before Gencon, I was wondering if there would there be enough interest in another auction before Gencon? If so, Would everybody prefer a super condensed option or do we have folks still looking to grab random bags of varying rarity of tokens?

Based on what I have seen, there seems to be more interest in the super condensed than the random rares.

That is what I saw as well, and I really like the super condensed, but I know a few folks like the rares to make backup builds for friends.

I wonder if the Onyx R/U/C sets are going to become pretty rare, none of the auctions are using that option. Maybe you could give the option of someone bidding on two URs or the R/U/C Onyx set - the highest bidder chooses which option?

Given that PYPs have gone for 105 to 110, would someone be willing to pay 210-220 for an onyx C/UC/R set?

I suppose offering it as a choice doesn't hurt.

I would say it would be a harder sell to get rid of condensed rather than super in general.

With the teeth so cheap, it can be tough. I would definitely wait until after Origins, but that's just me.

A LOT of it depends on where you set the threshold.

I’m interested in either. Love onyx URs though. Still trying to put together some builds for newbie friends coming this year so might lean towards the non condensed

I don't believe that Onyx URs would support a successful auction this year. I have only had folks request 11 out of the 20 URs for 2019 across four $8K orders. This would mean 7-9 unsold URs out of 34-36.

Ouch. Thats pretty harsh across four 8k orders. Is there a reason why there didn't seem to be as much interest for 2019? It seemed like 2018 had quite a few onyx auctions.

I'm still up for whichever if the auction goes up. Was able to free up some change.

Would you be willing to post the summary of how many of each of the 11 were ordered across the four orders? That's a large enough sample size that it would be a really interesting data point. :)

Will do after I get the rest of the selections.

I'm open to whichever option people want most. I think the super condensed with the 34 URS are the most popular, but I like to enable folks to get what they want.

Since the only difference between two options is the R/U/C Onyx Set or two PYPs, it seems like a no-lose situation to list them as either two PYPs or the Onyx Set, and the high bidder for them gets to decide which option to go with. Your call of course. :)
