TOPIC: Forum Auction - Golden Ticket

Re: Forum Auction - Golden Ticket 8 years 9 months ago #25

Current high bid as of 8:45 PM MT is $650 US.

Just a quick reminder, payment will be via PayPal and shipping is counted as part of the bid, so whomever ends up with the winning bid will not be paying additional shipping costs.

Thanks to all who've expressed interest, all of which is making me really wish I could go myself. Oh well, maybe next year.

Totally up to you (and the winning bidder, I guess), but you may want to think about insurance as well... whether you want to cover the cost, or split it with the winner.

I've had tokens go missing between Canada & the US before - especially when you need to write up a customs form, and it says that this coin-shaped thing is worth over $500 ... somehow envelopes develop mysterious rips & tears in transit.

Raven is 100% correct on this!!! Insurance is a must split with buyer is a good option. If the buyer doesn't want the insurance that is their choice. But offer it to them.

I can see that happening. Several of the tokens I have received in the mail in padded envelopes had the bottom of the envelope slit open. The slice was in such a way that it was very unlikely to be a machine. It would be very difficult to have a random machining error cut right in the softest part of the middle of the bottom curve of the envelope and leave the corners and edges untouched. Thankfully all the tokens were in the envelopes. I guess he didn't know what they were.

Thankfully that stopped when we got a new carrier for the neighborhood. Same carrier was caught with a bunch of birthday cards that were not addressed to him in his car.

On the customs form it might be a good idea to list the item as a Coin Shaped Ticket to an Event in Indianapolis. That might deter someone looking for a gold or silver coin.

If you take a piece of foam core or corragated cardboard and cut out a round hole for it...
Then put cereal box cardboard on either side...
And make the whole rectangle just small enough to slide into the envelope...

Then the casual observer won't see or feel anything coin-like. I don't see why you'd need to add the word "coin" on the customs form. It has "ticket" printed on the token, so just say that.
