I got these awesome things from Jenny/Binia (thanks Jenny!), and here's the answer for everyone who didn't know, straight from Dave Radtke.

Those were token proxy cards. When people started getting condensed packs, one of the issues was they were giving up commons (or the chance to get them) the compromise was that they would give up a few of the trade items (steel, etc.) for a specific number of each of those common ingredients on the card to be used for combo trading.

The Dragon tooth amulet at the top with the hole through it was Jeff's way of authenticating the card, preventing people from making counterfeits, they would have had to give up a nice token to make a few fake cards. These were only good for either making combos, or later to convert to trade good tokens if they did not want to make the combo items, but for that year, those were all the commons in the combo formula.

Yeah, it's so awesome to see some of these TD history items. It makes me happy to see them, but also sad that I didn't get to experience it way back when.

Here's a clue - they're from 2004.

Well, my memory of the 2004 run fails me, but from my True Dungeon Timeline post I'm guessing it's this:

Room Four – The Octagon Room
This was a tough puzzle that had a simple solution – if you thought of it. Your basic choice was one of three archways, but two of the pictures above the archways could be spelled with the cubes (avian and shell). The trick was to drop the cubes in the pool of water…and allowing the letters A-V-I-A-N to always float to the surface. The cubes were especially rigged to do so.

Well, that just gave away the whole answer. Next you'll be telling everyone which of the 1002 ways you should exit.
